It's been a while since I've posted to the LJ, but I'm back after a short hiatus. Sorry about the silence. Please don't take it personally. Life just gets in the way of LJ sometimes.
The big news is I've been preparing for my first Pagan concert at
Ozark Avalon's 2009
Harvest Homecoming Festival over an Labor Day weekend in mid-Missouri. Yes, I'm actually headlining for the "Live Entertainment" there. I'm excited!
So, I've been practicing playing guitar and singing, enlisting Anaan as my Muse (aka, backup singer and percussionist). I've really felt like a "real" musician as I've been writing out harmony lines for her on staff paper, drawing upon my music theory training-- and also ignoring it at times in lieu of what actually sounds good :) Anaan is using a variety of instruments including: african drum, egg shaker,
a razor-back frog (ie, a frog-shaped wood block with "fish" bumps on its back), tambourine and rainstick.
I've picked out 15 or so of the better songs I've written that are Pagan-themed or Pagan-related-- such as "The Greenman", "Pagan Baby" and "Secret Pagan Man". I also have picked out songs from other Pagan artists that I can "cover". We've been practicing nightly as we tweak them to get them sounding "just right".
The one thing I won't have with me is a CD to sell. The best I'll be able to come up with is a "song sampler" CD of 5 or 6 songs that I've recorded as demos in the recent past. Whether or not I can dress them up a little to make them sound more produced, we shall see.
If you are interested, you can check out a music page I've set up on MySpace at
http://www.myspace.com/cernowainandthemuses. There's a couple of songs I've written on there you can listen to.
Wish me good luck and positive energy as I venture out on this new path. Thanks.
bright blessings,
Cern
