What We Never Had
I use to find sex the blind tether that bound us together.
But each thrust is lust, adrenaline flush, and sensation rush.
“Are you close?” Don asks.
He is going too fast, so we won’t last.
We’re near, yet so far.
“Yes,” I lie, ever damning that false tie.
Finesse fades to all but fumbled caress.
Then his eyes screw shut.
A loss of control and a glimpse of soul.
Spilled, yet unfulfilled.
He slips from me and I can see this is all we’ll ever be.
Unclad, thighs splayed wide I feel the loss of what we never had.
