Today- I got my LJ expiration notifications ... so - maybe userpics and paid time will be another Christmas gift. It strikes me as funny that the notices always reach me on a Saturday. But then- in all honesty- it's not like I'd really been looking out for them lately.
It's been a busy few weeks. We're still trying to find a home for the handsome Chingu. He still has issues with other kitties. He's a sweetheart with humans (as you can tell by the fact that he is trying to hug me in the photo) ... but he doesn't like other kitties.
We found out the true story of Shady. She's the first pregnant stray that showed up on our doorstep shortly after we moved here. She is white with a tabby tail and brown markings on her ears.
We had been told that she was the kicked and abused cat of some former residents that cooked meth and lots of other unsavory things in their apartment. Nope. As it turns out ... she was born to a solid white female that used to live here (outside). The suspected father was white with the same tabby markings as her. Three kittens survived to adulthood and used to hunt with their mother and father in the woods surrounding the property. Shady is the surviving member of the family. She is between 5 1/2 and 6 years old. We now know this ... because the groundskeeper had just come to work here right before she was born. He told Jim the story a few days ago. He's impressed with how social and sweet she is since we've been taking care of her. :)
And it looks as though someone else is helping to take care of Aristotle the male stray. He's quite hefty now, and a quick glance of his nether region revealed what looked to be a lack of his former equipment. That ... or he was very cold. When he first showed up here ... he was a scrawny little booger that you couldn't get close to. He had horrible wounds from fighting. Now he rubs his face up against mine and sits in my lap. :) He scratches you if you don't bring him food though. He's a rascal. He reminds me of the orange male that we used to take care of.
So ... this year- I'm very grateful for the kitty success stories we've had. We've adopted out some kitties ... one of which we thought would NEVER find a new home.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
