Well, I finally got some news on the job - sort of. Basically, at the end of March I will be going part time (but whether that means four days a week or one day a week is still unknown) and it will be quite temporary - I'm thinking till about June. So, at least I know a little more? Ha, seriously though, I'm not as bummed about this as I maybe should be just because it was so completely expected... I'm not sure whether if I'll be getting another job yet - it'll depend on how many hours I get at the museum - but if I do, I'm thinking I'll probably try to get a job as a library assistant as I often see those jobs being advertised for like one day a week, so that should be fine. If not, I can probably sell some things on ebay or help out in my dad's shop... I'm also thinking of volunteering somewhere - perhaps another local museum, or even the Roman Palace up near Chichester (about an hour away on the train). A friend's mum works at a nature reserve nearby, so maybe I'll do something there...
I've felt a lot lately that my life has just been going to work and then coming home to mooch around the flat, so perhaps some time off is a good idea so I can reassess things...
The only trouble with this plan is that I also found out last week that I haven't got funding from the Arts & Humanities Research Council for my MA. Again, it's not really a surprise but still a bit of a blow. I have one more piece of funding I'm waiting to hear about but I'm not holding my breath - the AHRC's funding was apparently the one that I was more likely to get - and it's for £1000 (AHRC was £3000), so that's not even enough to cover tuition. Not that I'm turning my nose up £1000, that would be lovely to have! I'm just going to have to save very carefully...
