Finally started at 'L' today! It was so much fun. Things are *much* more lax - you can clock in a few minutes early or late and no one gets mad. Lunch - if you need a couple extra minutes isn't the end of the world, or if you're bored you can come back. (Seriously - the hour for lunch is *so* long - I killed time my last 15 minutes!)
It's nice to be able to actually talk to someone and have them explain things if you don't understand - sans dirty looks from managers. I spent a good 45 minutes talking to the other fish guy about ... fish. And tanks, and what he plans to do and sharing suggestions I had. It was really awesome!
Admittingly I was kindof clueless for my first hour or so. I wasn't sure what I should be doing when I first got there (Pulling dead fish, water changes and feeding) But once I started - things started falling back in place. The washing the nets, where to find things, how to count crickets, etc.
Best part? I work Mon/Wed/Fri-Sun. Wed I bag hay for 3 hours (Pull bales apart and stick flakes in bags labeled for sale - they make a BUCK on those things! The bale costs $20, they get ~25 flakes - selling at $6/flake ...$150 on a $20 bale ... YIKES!) Fridays I play in the bird room (Some reptiles, pet rodents and birds) The rest of the week I'm playing with the fish. Very fun - very exciting - so worth the pay cut! (I actually had energy when I got home!)
