Because I'm just pissed off enough

Fandom, how you give me deja' vu.

In case I am being too subtle, here's a breakdown.

IF I am supposed to protect my own delicate sensibilities when it comes to fiction that posits an interpretation of the show/book/comic/movie/whatever that actually makes me unhappy, and does in fact often affect my enjoyment of the source itself ( Read more... )

Dude, I just...I am not kidding when I say that Wincest actively makes me unhappy. I don't mean that as a moral comment. But it's an interpretation of the text that I not only don't care for, but that changes the text in a way that makes me no longer enjoy it. And yet, the MOST I have ever done is politely ask people not to use graphic icons in my comments, and I agonized over even doing that, because I HATE pissing in people's Cheerios.

All I'm asking for is the same consideration. Don't want to think about race and gender in SPN? Don't click the cut tag! I have no problem with that. I am so incredibly not tallying who comments and who doesn't. And yet, apparently, I am ruining fandom for others.

Although it doesn't help if you read from multiple browsers, I've used the adblocking functionality of my browser to just keep from loading certain icons that I can't handle seeing.

(I can handle manips, graphic, and animated userpics, but I cannot handle animated graphic manips.)

I need to add in fairness that the person I asked to change the icon was MORE than gracious about it.

Don't hide your eyes, but plagiarize! (Only, please, be sure to call it "research.")

Hey, I thought tossing graffiti was a great idea. I could see you tossing ribbons of paint -- kind of like the ribbons in rhythmic gymnastics -- and them sticking to the walls in great colorful, expressive loops. Beautiful image.
