HARVEST TIME!!!!

Oct 30, 2002 23:19

The time is here once again - leaves have fallen, the air is chilly, and the fields are being harvested - my favorite time of year, for the obvious reasons of course! It makes me upset to see that so many people have ruined this time with their commercialism, myths of Satanic origins, and supersitious fear that somehow a demon will inhabit their ( Read more... )

Yeah, they made me into an evil demon-bitch too, and persecuted my followers. I wasn't terribly happy with that and their newest hyped up translation of that sentence in their holy book, "thalt not suffer a witch to live."

I guess that's right after "Thou shalt not kill." Strange little hypocrites, aren't they?

I hope that you had a wonderful Samhain, dearest. I've been so busy myself from New Moon to New Moon and this little LJ thing ensnared me recently and I couldn't resist. It's Hephaistos' fault, always selling the latest new technology on the rest of the gods!

Yes, our shared fate in the eyes of modern men is definately unfortunate, my friend. There is nothing we can do but remain strong and show them otherwise! :)

I'm so happy to hear from you! Thank you for writing! I had a wonderful Samhain, and I trust that your's was special as well? *smiles sweetly* We most get together sometime! I have some new recipies that I'd like to share with you, I'm sure you could assimilate them into your own uses *winks*

Take care, dearest friend. I shall hope to hear from you soon!

Samhain was terrific. I had a few witches invoke me who actually KNEW who I was. Amazing. There are a still few of those... I like to call them "drawing down the moon types" who mix me up with a few other goddesses from other pantheons and invoke me into this crone type of stew. Utterly bizarre. I've had some great conversations with the Morrighan as a result, so I really ought not to complain *TOO* much.

It is wonderful to hear from you as well! I am glad that you have not faded away at all. The leaves are turning, so I thought of you.

And I have an interest in those recipes. Share anytime! ;)

*hands you her recipe book, full of incredible dishes only a goddess could create* Feel free to do what you wish with these darling :) You may be interested in the section that deals with Olympian garden vegetables! Also do take a gander at the pages of Heavenly desserts - that's my favorite! :)

You may have been invoked improperly, but at least you still have adherents within the mortal realms *weak smiles* I just have workers and farmers that don't really know who I am but they thank this creature called "Mother Earth" with a big yearly festival.. good enough for me! Besides I have my hands full with the mortals and lesser deities that I allow to live in my household. I bet if I was more well known (under either name) to the mortals I would have the same problem you do. *sigh* What can we do? *shrugs passively*

yes, the leaves.. It has actually started to snow out on the mortal plains already! I'm just waiting for skadi_dot_com to have some fun here at Olympus! zeus_dot_com likes his ice fishing and figure skating *giggles*

Oh my, Demeter, these recipes look wonderful! I'll be trying a few of these tonight....

As for the mortals, I do confess that I miss the Eleusinian Mysteries. I hear that there are a few individuals out there who are attempting them again, albeit in a fairly different manner. I admire such attempts; it gives me great hope.

I do not think that all is lost, nor forgotten. But we definitely are not in the thick of it all as we used to be back in the old days.

Meanwhile... I am maintaining my urge not to go out and go leaf-dancing. I cannot guarantee this will last for long. The night is clear, the stars are out, and that moon is big and bright....

waitamin... zeus_dot_com FIGURE SKATING? my I must see this sometime :)

Do let me know what you think of the recipes! I have one mindset when it comes to cooking, I'd like to see what you can whip up! haha!

There were about 300 participates of the Eleusinian Mysteries worldwide this year! I think that's a pretty good number, considering... I just don't really seem to be inducting too many new memebrs these days, they're all brainwashed into thinking they're my adherents, but they're nothing more than Pop Witches (as I like to call them). Oh well.. I'm too busy anyways.

Leaf-dancing!!!! We simply must go together! *smiles* That will be loads of fun, certainly! Thanks for the idea! I've been so caught up in work with the Harvest season and whatnot.. I need a break! I took a long nap after Samhain, but then plunged right back into it all.

Yeah, I know all about his silly little fetishes :) He TRIES to figure skate but he knows he can't so he just watches it on ESPN *chuckleS*

Will do. I'm fond of cooking myself. :)

There are some smaller groups that I have high hopes for, as they're hoping to bring back the old ways, minus the "blessed wanna-be" nonsense that I've been seeing far too often. I have my fingers crossed and I leave them little presents when I can. They seem to like them.

What sort of presents do you leave for the mortals?? I do my best to simply give the most abundant of my blessings in their fields and gardens, but I could use a few tips on special gifts as signs of appreciation for all their work. Perhaps I could amalgamate (there's that word again) some of your presents into something more suited for my adherents (there's that words again too!)

bacchus_dot_com seems rather bent on ignoring me so I'm not so sure how much he'd like his Bacchante hanging out with Ole Auntie Demeter, but I sure wouldn't mind haning out with WHOEVER wants to Leaf Dance! *smiles big* We should try to get isis_dot_com to loosen up a bit and join us! haha We'd have to avoid anywhere in the norther regions of the mortal realms since they already have snow and the leaves are wetted down. Perhaps this little place called Atlanta, GA??? I visited a handsome mortal man there last weekend and it was GORGEOUS! No snow, a crisp chill in the air, and there were still leaves on the trees just WAITING for us to dance through them as they fall! What ( ... )

eh, I can understand bacchus_dot_com's reaction to you. You're his grandmother, after all *winks*

as for the presents, I am very fond with sending them various omens. little things here and there that they pick up on. sometimes I'm a bit of a tease about it, but you should see their faces when they wonder about it. it's like watching children play *soft smile*

ah... yes... bacchus_dot_com likes the costumes... *chuckles and winks back*

Georgia sounds beautiful. I'd love to give it a whirl! as for tonight... it's leaf-dancing time! Gotta do it before the snow falls. I'll be sure to post about it when I'm done.

Well.... I'm more like his great-great-great Aunt.. sort of.. well.. it's hard to explain! HAHA!

That sounds like a wonderful idea for presents! Hmm... I think I'll investigate further and see what I can "conjure up" *soft chuckle*

No no no... zeus_dot_com loves the costumes *loud laugh* Can you just see it now?! *giggles silly*

Do tell how your leaf dancing went! I'm going this evening! I hope to catch you in Georgia! If not, have a blessed day, darling friend!
