vacation #2, the electric boogaloo
we booked airline tickets to fly out and see kathy's family in florida. so now i have 2 vacations to look forward to--the san diego one that's coming up at the end of may and the florida one which is in the middle of august. we're both dreading the flying though. the aero part of my aerospace engineering degree is all about building airplanes, but that doesn't mean i have to like flying in them. i keep remembering the factor of safety with airplanes of 1.1. buildings, for instance, have factors of safety in multiples of 100s. but with airplanes, every extra pound you put in the air is extra money in fuel, so airplane designers don't have that luxury. just too close for me to feel comfortable giving up control of my fate by getting on an airplane. every time i do, it feels like a mistake. :\
