I think it's pretty strange that they appeared so suddenly. And that they can grow so fast!

I guess I could test it or something but, if it does become sentient- I don't want a rampaging plant in my lab.

I would say a rampaging plant is unlikely... anywhere else! You had better test it, if not get rid of it entirely.
