Good evening.
And guess what? I'm not at work. On Jess's computer. Splendid!
Randomness:
-- Birds were chirping outside of my window this morning. Happy first day of Spring.
-- There was a mob scene outside of the Newman Center this morning, but it was just the start of the Palm Sunday mass. One of the best passion dramatizations I've seen in a while. And I'm totally crushing on Chris Clark... she's such an inspiration.
-- New Yo La Tengo triple cd! comes out on Tuesday. Although most of it's recycled material, I dig the married couple from Hoboken.
-- Going to see Patty Griffin on the first Wednesday in May at the Calvin Theater -- anyone else interested? So far, Barbara, Leo, Janet, Jess... and you? Let me know, so we can sit together. I'm pumped. And I'll probably cry through the whole thing.
-- Went to Judie's with ECC and Jess on Friday... we had a really lovely dinner. Judie talked us into getting fried ice cream for dessert. She's a rockstar, that Judie.
-- I read a book this weekend (I do have some sort of work ethic hiding inside me!) -- "Hope in the Unseen." Amazing read... makes you think twice about affirmative action. And religion. And SWV and Keith Sweat. Seriously.
-- Had my "Welcome evening" for the Higher Education program. I'm gonna be a Master's student. Holy shit. Went to ABC Upstairs afterwards for a reception -- it was just our large crowd up there, so that was fun. It was weird to have a formal academic gathering at a place where I frequently get shitty. Such is life.
-- I have five assistantship interviews scheduled for tomorrow morning, and a two-hour ARD interview on Tuesday. Interviewing with Admissions, Leadership Center, Students Activities Center (our favorite SAC, right ECC?), Dean of Students, and Stonewall Center. Even though my heart's with the ARD position, gonna give it my all tomorrow.
-- Random, but significant point: boys stress me out! Gah!
-- Ok, next! Choose Brian's adventure: I would like to quit my job (sad, I know) at the end of the Admissions cycle -- around June 1st. ARD training (crossing fingers) starts August 2nd. That leaves two months in between. What should I do? I want to do something fun -- camp counselor, ice cream scooper, noho scenester... help me!
-- Looking forward to an incredibly busy week... I hope Shederick won't hate me too much. Interviewing. Admissions final read. Open House. Class. Reading reading reading race, class, and gender issues. "In What Language?" performance at Bowker on Thursday evening. Culture Shock on Friday.
