falafel_musings tagged me :)

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same. Do it if you want?

This is a really tough choice. I mean. I've written a lot of fics. But here goes.

The Tragedy of Number Five - Battlestar Galactica, Jammer/Aaron Doral, R. This fic is often one the overlooked ones, when it comes to my work. It's a very early one, but it's one where I really just think I nailed it. There were little mistakes, some bits where the wording could have been improved, but in terms of a tragic tale of Romeo-and-Juliet-love, this is, I think, possibly the best I've ever done.

Ache - Battlestar Galactica, Felix Gaeta/Saul Tigh, R. When most people review this fic they usually say something like "Gaeta/Tigh EWWWWWWW - but I actually kinda liked it", which is really one of my favorite kinds of reviews to get. This was a pairing that couldn't possibly work, and during the writing of this story (including a memorable couple hours as I was a tech during the school's talent show, scribbling with a pencil, a piece of scrap paper, and one of the show's programs) it really came to life for me. To this day, Gaeta/Tigh is my Battlestar Galactica OTP.

Gravity - Heroes, Mohinder/Sylar, NC-17. Besides the fact that this might be the best smut I've ever written, Gravity was intense, it was conflicted, it didn't spare any punches (at least not part one - I'm never as happy with continuations of a first story), and it set out to do what was then the impossible: bring Mohinder and Sylar together, realistically, post-Parasite. It remains one of my favorites to this day.

Snapshots of a Quiet Life - Heroes, Mohinder/Sylar + Molly, PG. This one also set out to do the impossible - non-crackfic Mywalker. I never really cease to love this little universe. The two sequels weren't as awesome as the first, though. A problem that seems to plague the fics I've picked here.

And I really, actually can't pick a fifth. Like, I tried. Instead, I'm gonna go with a few honorable mentions.

The Myth of Greatness - Incredible Hulk, Bruce Banner/Emil Blonsky, NC-17. Coauthored with airspaniel, and I've never in my life had more fun writing than I do with her. On the other hand, it's not too much more than a character study via porn, so, despite it's awesomeness, I'm not sure if I'd put it in the top five?

Time Running - Heroes, Mohinder/Nirand, PG-13. This fic isn't all that great, but I hated the prompt so much (Mohinder/Nirand??? OMG WHO CARES?) that I decided to write the whole damn thing without ever using the verb "to be". As in, no 'is', 'was', 'were', 'are', 'am' - anything. Check it yourself if you don't believe me.

Dangerous World - Crossover in Invasion/Prison Break/Dexter, NC-17. I'm not gonna call this fic under-appreciated, because CHECK OUT THE LENGTH OF THOSE COMMENTS OMG, but I will say it's one of my least-read of my utter, utter favorites. This is a fandom collision, and I'm so proud of keeping everyone in character and saying everything I wanted to say in less than, you know, a series of novels. It's also really goddamn strange. Hence no top-fiveness.

If you want to do this meme, feel free ^^

And also. I used to do this thing - ask Cerebel - until about a year ago someone accused me of being an egocentric asshole. If I ever came off like that, I'd like to go ahead and apologize. It was never my intent. I have a fic community instead of a fic journal not because I want a group of people dedicated to my awesome but because I wanted people to feel comfortable friending it without worrying about me seeing their locked posts.

And once people did friend it, I did some things - like starting up the ficlet battles, or doing posts where people could ask me questions - because I wanted to get to know you and make this feel like a community of people instead of a lot of journals watching the fic of someone who's unapproachable and distant and doesn't care.

Even if sometimes I forget to respond, I appreciate every single comment on here. I'm really glad you guys like the fic, and I hope I can continue to bring that.

That's pretty much what I wanted to say. That I am approachable, and I'd love to meet people who read my fic, especially if I haven't ever interacted with them before. That's all :)
