Livejournal has apparently updated their content advisory methods. As this community contains a lot of explicit material, and I can't really pretend that doesn't exist, I've marked this whole community as explicit adult content. That means that minors can't see the posts, apparently

Of course, I would in no way advocate that those sneaky sneaky minors put in birthdates beyond their years and cheat this obviously foolproof system.

I really hate this, you know. I mean, LJ is saying that it's totally optional and you don't have to do it, but...it's really rubbing me the wrong way. I just set my comm to Adult Concepts because, really, there are only 6 porny stories on there...

I feel like more than half of my stuff is porny, and I should set it higher than "Adult Concepts". And I don't want to risk LJ being all "UR BAD PERSON" and messing with my community. But really, though this is inconvenient, it seems like something that's not as bad as people are making it out to be. It's something a lot of websites have put into place. In order to not be legally liable for minors reading porn, they have to put measures in place that are a reasonable safeguard against it. They don't want to get sued. I get that. I'm okay with it. I feel like really dedicated minors are smart enough to get around it. So, okay.

Yeah, that's true. I mostly hate the fervor it's causing...plus, I don't really like censoring myself at all...but LJ clearly needs to do this to cover their asses, and it seems like it's pretty well-protected against spamming self-righteous people, so I guess there really isn't anything to complain about.
