I think there is some fear, in the way he flinches away from Young as they step up to the door, just a little half-step back. They're both being very careful to leave lots of space between them, Young even goes and sits behind the desk, very non-threatening. But I thought that reaction at the door was Rush letting his mask slip just a little.

It is open at the end, but he's a schemer, and Young would be wrong to believe him completely. At the end of the day Rush wants the ship and Young wants home and those two goals are almost always incompatible.

I wish they'd kept the mind-communication devices though, I think fanfic is needed to fully explore the... ahem, possibilities XD

Yeah, I noticed that. The half-step. Rush's poker face slips, a little, there. He's not quite as confident as he would appear.

Well, Rush isn't willing to trust anyone or open up to anyone. We've already seen that, with how he completely shut down, to Young, in Light. The only way he can accomplish his goals, without trusting anyone (and I include Wray in this -- I just can't see him completely taking her side, without leaving his other options open) is to be a scheming bastard.

I SAID THE SAME THING. Rush, c'mon now, can't you think of any uses for a sending and receiving telepathic device. :|

Yeah, he hasn't really got anything in common with Wray. He's using her. And it's not like Young or Wray are being honest in return, I mean he doesn't really have a choice. Young already tried to kill him once. Who can blame him for scheming? I may be biased. I've said before, I find it easier to forgive Rush's mistakes than Young... but still.

I know right, I mean okay maybe he was traumatised or whatever, but they've gotta be useful little things - they might break through Franklin's coma for one. (Look I found a reason that doesn't involve porn!)

Yeah, I've seen a couple people who were all >: c'mon Rush don't scheme, but I think it's just part of who he has to be right now.

Also, let's be honest here. I don't think Young understands what drove him to take Rush out, down on that planet. I think he completely lost control and still can't quite figure out why, and that scares the hell out of him. He's unreliable, and he knows it. Rush can't completely trust him because there's a chance Young is just gonna go off the deep end someday.

I think Young's "plan" was a shot in the dark, I don't think he really knew what he was going to do to free Cloe. Too much improvisation, if you ask me.

Whe he decided to open fire on the ship, at first I thought he wanted to get rid of Rush, but then I thought about it and, as you said, if he wanted to kill Rush, he would have done it before. Anyway, they are so complicated... For example, after Rush and Young's conversation I thought they were actually going to behave for a while, but then we saw Rush conspiring with Camille almost inmediately.

It must've been. You know what? It was probably a manifestation of Young's leave no one behind thing, that kept him on the planet with Scott until long after he should have left him. There was a tiny fraction-chance of getting Chloe back, and he had to take it, because just leaving people behind isn't (usually) in his nature.

Yeah, see, that was my first thought too. But, as I've found with Young, sometimes my first thought doesn't work out so well.

"because just leaving people behind isn't (usually) in his nature."
LOL, I think the key word here is "usually" ;)
But you are right again, it fits into his "leave no one behind" policy.

I agree with your analysis. And I was quite stunned how Young (in the alien body) was able to communicate with Rush - a simple gesture. I thought that was so great, that he thought on his feet and was able to get Rush to trust him. I loved "for the sake of the crew". I think Young would totally settle for that. BUT: we know that Rush will "never be done", and sure enough, he went right back to the intrigue. It probably means there's lots of Young whumpage ahead. And I'm cool with that. LF does whumped so well. ;-)

Like I said, I just don't know what side Rush has picked yet. I could see him playing Wray, so that she keeps going against Young to the point that much of the crew doesn't trust her anymore. I could see him cautiously taking Wray's side in order to topple Young. But I can't see him trusting any side completely.
