all this talk about nothing is making me stupid

I used to be really gung ho about politics...like right when i turned 18, and became eligible to vote. and then Mr. Bush gets re elected and now we are here. Now, all i will say about bush is that I don't support what he does... and ill leave it at that. the point is, I think because of such events that have taken place in our government recently, I feel that voting is a waste of time. I look at the candidates for the upcoming '08 election, and I just don't see it. A lot of people have told me to take a look at Ron Paul. I did. And while I do think he is probably the most honest candidate out there, a) he is probably not going to win and b) i really don't support much of what he supports. So now what?

With that being said, I don't think I'm going to vote in the election unless some candidate shows something to me that is worth supporting and that I myself would support. Now, you can say all you want about not voting, and about how irresponsible it is and about how so many people have died for my ability to vote, but these arguments are looking to be a bit bullshitty to me.

#1 Not voting is irresponsible: How is not supporting what I don't believe in irresponsible? if anything, more people should take a lot more time to read up on candidates and their positions, track records, etc to find someone they can really get behind instead of just voting for the person you see on tv the most. Maybe if everyone did that, these cookie cutter candidates would after time slowly fade away. Asking too much from our country's citizens? yeah probably.

#2 People died for your freedom to vote: Yeah you are right. Many soldiers and civilians for that matter have died for my freedom to vote. my FREEDOM to vote. Freedom meaning in this context as "to choose whether to vote or not" NOT "you must vote because people died for you to vote".

Too many people vote 'blindly' it seems. I mean, I fully support voting and I would urge people to vote as long as they are voting intelligently and they actually know what they are voting for.

I don't know, hot topic today i guess. More than a rant that anything else. but ur free to leave your opinions for me.
