Day Nine already? Wow.
So what did I do today...
Early this morning I made a myspace... yeah, I feel so dirty.
But that has nothing to do with my Japan trip!
After lunch today, Yamazaki-san asked me if I'd go with him to the flower store. Better than staying in, so I went. He picked up about 20 tiny little plants and we left. I thought we were going home, but instead we went to this adorable little coffee shop owned his cousin, Mitsuko-san, and her husband. They insisted that I have some tea, and she talked to me for a bit in simple Japanese. I only had to use my dictinary twice! I must be getting better.
When we were about to leave, she said "o-miyage!" (souvenir,) and handed me a cute little rainbow abacus, which Yamazaki-san taught me how to use. (what, I've never used on before!) Mitsuko-san handed Yamazaki-san a big bag of peat moss, and a box of some kind of green moss, and again we were on our way.
Instead of going home though, we stopped at his office. A few people came out to meet me, including Tatsuya's father, and a woman who he said had lived in the US for 8 years, but she was too shy to say anything in English.
Finally Yamazaki-san came back out with a bunch more plants. I wished I knew what all these plants were for!
So we went home finally and it was almost time for supper. Tatsuya and his dad (who is also Yamazaki-san soo.. Tooru-san. I'll use his first name.) came by to visit. Ah, you all need to come to Japan and have real Japanese food. Seriously. Gahh, it's so awesome...
When I was helping clean up after supper, (my parents would be so proud, I wash the dishes without being asked.. gotta show my gratitude somehow.) Tooru-san said out of nowhere that I'd definitely be welcome back next summer, and that I cold even bring my family or boyfriend. So that rocks... I'm gonna see if Jordan and I can save up enough money by next summer.
Then a few women showed up at the door, and I found out what all those plants were for. Apparently, Yamazaki-san teaches people how to pot and tend to bonsai trees. They were doing this weird thing where they wrap the roots in toilet paper, then peat moss, then an outer layer of pretty green moss. I tried for awhile, but I wasn't very good at it... but yes, it was very intereting!
Tatsuya got drunk again... (apparently Japanese people think American beer ia like water, too, by the way,) they went home, and and I came up here and started typing.
But finally downloaded AIM here, so I kept getting distracted.. But I've finally finished the post! Yay!
