Breath

Dec 12, 2005 22:01

Rising, after the moments
where two worlds swirl and meld,
buying time before the heat or lack there-of the day
swiftly drives my eyelids closer together;
it has become an unjust goal
just to do- -

Squeezing through the cracks,
the water cascades down gray granite
so calmly it readies itself for the one day it can quit

By the time it reaches the end,
the frozen spiral that exists
provides a refuge for the tiny creatures climbing up,
vying for the first kiss.

The water underneath shimmers,
gleefully accepting the droplets,
each one so necessary yet inside itself broken,
the invisible wind caressing its lips.

Above the stalwart resolve
a quiet steam and the sky just met,
giving life to old memories overdue for redemption,
the breath of a hot mouth onto a warm neck.

I know few can tell
how few regrets I have,
because drifting in and out of the magical worlds that be-
either can't be bad.

catching the sweet smell
summer times are on the wind once again
