Christmas recap

Dec 26, 2004 20:00

It's been a good few days. The boys all started arriving home on Friday afternoon, which meant that the house got really, really full. My olderst brother lives in a house down the block from my parents, so at least he wasn't sleeping here.

I worked until noon on Friday, then came home and helped my mom in the kitchen. I think that she was a bit shocked, since I'm not really a domestic sort. I'm a very picky eater, so I dont' like to cook too many things. I think that it's a bit of a disappointment to my mom, who comes from a big Ukranian family, and is an extraordiary cook. We spent the entire afternoon together, listening to Christmas music and baking. I even wore an apron :D. At one point, my mom got a little misty-eyed when she mentioned that next year may be my last Christmas at home, since when I finished Uni, I may be unable to get back. It's sad to think about.

On Friday night, we had our traditional ham/scalloped potato dinner, then got dressed up and headed for church. It started raining on the way home, so that was weird, since the drops would instantly freeze to the windshield as my dad was driving. Once we got home, my mom brought out all the finger foods (another tradition) and we ate like crazy. Each of us kids got new pajamas, and as a whole, we got a board game (Sorry!). We're a big game family, so each year, my mom gets us one, and all four of us kids sit around and play. It's one of the only times that we get along long enough to get something done.

Christmas morning, my older brother came over at about 7 am. It's funny... he's the oldest, and the one that's most excited on Christmas morning. Anyway, he woke everyone else up and we opened presents. I was given a ton of cool stuff, and consequently very happy. After the present opening, my mom got to work making breakfast, and I helped, being the good child that I am. The rest of the morning/afternoon was spent lazing around.

Turkey dinner was great (as usual). The leftovers are even better. :D

Today was also great. I stayed in my pajamas until about 4 pm (yes, I'm lazy). I decided at that time that maybe I should be dressed for dinner. Two of my brothers left this evening. It's good, because we're starting to get on each other's nerves.

I don't think that I'm going to work tomorrow. Or maybe if I do, I'll go in the afternoon. I was given a choice, so it's really up to me. When I woke up this morning, my throat was pretty thick... the first sigs of a cold. I'll probably sleep in and be lazy for one more day before I have to join the real world again.

Anyway, Happy Holidays again to everyone.
