Okay I almost don't know where to start. Here is how I feel about Dave/Terezi

But seriously I'm a little embarrassed to put down in words how ardently and smooshily I ship this even though it's obvs. from my fic because I just feel like I shouldn't be taking Dave freaking Strider and the alien girl who licks things this seriously. They are the ha ha funny pairing and I ship them all LET'S BE DEAD SERIOUS ABOUT THIS GUYS THEY ARE MADE FOR EACH OTHER.

Aside from the weird mix of snarky, flirtatious and sincere that is their canon relationship, I mostly ship them for the potential????? Like, I think that they have the potential to be perfect for each other in this really basic and possibly disastrous no-one-else-gets-it-own-little-world way. They are both people who mask pretty heavily and have a need to assert verbal dominance in basically any conversation (the difference is that Terezi is so natural and Dave is so painfully constructed) and when you put that together you get goddamn ~*~magic~*~ okay. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that they are each other's match; they can keep up with each other, they get a kick out of each other, they make each other kind of angry sometimes but mostly they just have that spark that I can appreciate. They'd be so good at looking cool and unaffected and non-committal in public, but privately they're sort of burning both ends of the candle i guess that's why they call it the blues passionate.

SEE WHAT I MEAN. I TAKE THIS PAIRING EMBARRASSINGLY SERIOUSLY.

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of it, the big reason I'm attracted to this ship at all is the fact that in canon, you honestly learn more about Terezi through her relationship with Dave than anywhere else and Dave subsequently gets a lot of his fifth act character development through her. They bring out very interesting shades in each other and mostly they are also my two favourite characters so uh I guess, two great flavours that taste great together.
