Cat, don't deny it. Everyone shipped Rose/Dave before the ectotwins reveal. While John and Jade are those siblings that it's hard to tell apart, Rose and Dave are those siblings you always assume are a couple before you find out they're related.
But seriously, I love Rose and Dave's relationship and I honestly read them as each other's most important connection. They are bristly and sarcastic and always sort of competing for most hot shit clever bad ass position among the kids but more than anyone, they are all up in each other's respective emotional grills. In a lot of ways, I think they will always hold a very particular and untouchable place in each other's hearts; them being siblings is honestly the perfect solution to the odd candor their relationship had. Rose always seemed torn between treating Dave with her customary patronizing and treating him like an equal and Dave was........... always trying to convince everyone that Rose wanted his dick I have no idea.
Also, it bears noting that they are so much the same it's painful. For all the similar buck-toothed doofiness than goes on with the Prospit kids, I don't think Jade and John ever approach the level of unfortunate similarity as Rose and Dave do. They are both so heart-rendingly not living up to what they pretend to be behind their shields of ironic dickery and they seem to have a gentleman's agreement not to bring that up to each other because they both know that they're doing the same thing.
Additionaly, my respective OTPs for each character have shades of their interaction, which says......... something I guess.
tl;dr best siblings who were also probably each other's first crush and they will never ever discuss that because it's so awkward.
