What's with Wade Boggs? He was always my brother's favorite player, he had all of Bogg's cards, a shrine to him in his room and all that, but my parent's brought back pictures of their friends' son's house from their trip to Florida and he had a Wade Boggs shrine, too. I don't know much of anything about baseball, but from what I gather, Boggs isn't exactly a highpoint of the game: so what's the attraction to him? That he's goofy or something?
And why are professional poker players all so damn ugly? I mean, I bet professional video gamers are better looking, although they do have youth on their side, but all of the crappy looking sunglasses don't help: if someone is betting forty thousand dollars on a hand, they should be able to afford to look good while doing it. Isn't wearing the glasses a signal that you need a crutch, anyway? Why allow them if it doesn't heighten the drama for the TV viewers, now that it's televised on everything from ESPN to the Travel channel? What's next, players sitting around in Darth Vader masks? "hhrrrrmm-arrrrff... Call... hhrrrrmm-arrrrff..."
