Hello, Livejournal and friends or strangers who find it.
Aside from some goofy posts during manic days in grad school, it's been about 8 months since I really posted an update. If you're looking for more of my day to day, check out my Facebook, Twitter, or brand-new Google+.
Last I posted, it was late in the winter semester. That semester, I got all A's again. Hooray! Over the holidays, I spent some time at home with friends and family before returning for my last semester of grad school. During my last semester, I took classes in Business Practices in Higher Ed, Education Abroad, Case Studies in Higher Education, and completed an internship in the alumni office at Mount Union. The last semester was the most stressful of all. Case studies class was an intense seminar, with projects due every week or every other week, including a lot of group work, writing, and presentations. Besides the coursework and the internship, I also had my job. I had a harder time with my staff the last semester and some significant incidents in my residence hall.
I was also planning my summer. If you have not heard by other means or did not notice in the title, I am currently serving as an intern at the American University in Bulgaria. I was interested in this opportunity after one of my peers in the program, a good grad school friend of mine, completed a similar internship at AUBG last summer. My advisor also has a connection with the AUBG president, as they both worked together at the American University in Central Asia. Over the winter break, I tried to point out the benefits of the summer internship to my parents. I decided to do it, because I don't know when else I will have two full months to live and work abroad. I signed up for it, as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and also worried about that throughout the spring.
I don't even really remember late April through May. I finished my last projects for grad school, checked out all the residents from my halls, graduated, broke a tooth on graduation day, packed everything I had in my apartment and put in in storage, drove back to Illinois, spent a weekend at home, and flew out to Bulgaria. It was a whirlwind.
Since May, I've accomplished a lot at my internship and am preparing to come back to the states. I actually just received a job offer, which I've accepted. Although I wish I could be closer to home, I've accepted a job that is a great match for me in Ohio. So, as I said in the title of this post, since last time I went from Ohio to Woodridge to Bulgaria, and soon I will go back. It's a good job with a good salary, and I will have the time and the means to come back to Illinois and visit friends and family some weekends. So... yeah. Plus ça change, plus ç'est de la même chose. I can't wait to come back and get started, but before that, there are a few more things to do here in Blagoevgrad, and I have some nice trips to London, Paris, and Istanbul coming up :-) Happy graduation.
