presentations. grad school. cleanup.

So, it's been awhile since I did a full life update... I should get on that.

Last I posted a full update, it was the spring. I completed my internship in the Office of International Affairs and my spring classes. I got all A's, so my only blemish was that A- my first semester.

During the summer, I worked for DKS - it was just like working orientation again, except with larger crowds, and 3-4 overlapping sessions a week. It was a crazy summer, but I worked hard about half the time and spent my days off well in Kent.

This fall and winter, I did a few professional presentations: I talked about interview preparation at the OCPA Careers in Student Affairs conference right here in Alliance, and on automatic GPA calculation at a NAFSA regional conference - which was the exciting project I had posted about before. This fall, I took four more classes: International Students at American Colleges, Administration of Multiculturalism and Diversity in Higher Ed, Students and the College Environment, and Internationalization of Higher Education Institutions. Lots of international stuff, difference, and tolerance for ambiguity :)

Work has been good. My employer recently redid its entire website, so I am currently trying to make our office's part better. It's a struggle working with the prefab structure and the individual they hired to administer to the site. On the res life side, my residents in my men's hall have been much better behaved this year... or at least a lot less destructive. The women next door have been a little more mischievous, though.

Now that the halls are empty for winter break, I finally have time to roll up the sleeves and clean up my apartment. Already, since finishing school on Thursday - and despite closing the halls Saturday, I've filled a recycling bin with clutter, deep-cleaned my bathroom, and run through five loads of laundry. Woohoo! We grad students know how to party.

Incidentally, I'm starting a web presence cleanup. So if any of the archives of this lj disappear, or little slices of my adolescence disappear from the web, you'll know why. I'm surprised so many of the weird things I put up as a kid are still around!! 困ったものです。
