Hey, guess what? I'm a member of an obscure, elite organization! Last night, I was inducted into the Carlene Verstraete chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). I know you've probably never heard of it, but the NRHH is an honorary organization whose members are the top 1% of residence hall leaders nation-wide. The Carlene Vestraete Chapter is North Central's chapter of NRHH. Each school gets to induct 1% of their residential students or 15 members into the chapter, whichever is higher (NCC has 15). It's just a nice award that someone nominated me for (and some other people apparently voted me in) because of being a leader in RHA and Orientation & my hall council, and I'll get a nice pin and certificate sometime this summer.
It was a complete surprise to me, because we (RHA) were going to contact the people who got inducted to try to start them as an active chapter instead of a passive chapter, and then the first two people inducted were myself and April. It was totally a surprise for both of us because usually they just induct juniors who will be seniors the next year, but April and I are both sophomores. It was funny, because they were reading the person who was nominated, and it was something like, "This person has devoted a lot of time and energy to RHA and North End Activities Board. His..." And when they got to "his", I was like, "Wait, there are no guys on the North End Activities Board. Oh, wait. There's me."
So... yeah! Awesome! I guess we can make it an active chapter from the inside now! And I'll have more to do at NACURH...
