I had a huge blowup at work today. Though, gladly, I can say that things are patched up and even better than before.
I started when I mispoke that Patty and I had reworked a draft of a project proposal that one of my coworkers had written. In actuality, Patty and I had only rewritten a single paragraph leaving the remainder only modified for grammar and flow. I wasn't able to explain before another coworker overheard this. She began ranting at me and even telling me that she had been with the company longer and that she was going to tell Chris (my boss). I felt like I was under attack and proceeded to defend myself by stating that as this is a group effort and, as such, it is important to include Patty's ideas.
Later on in the afternoon, I requested that the coworker with whom I had had the confrontation remaining behind after a meeting and we talked about the incident. We worked out the specific issues and decided that from that point forward, we would take a new approach to communicate differences with each other. I feel that we made a lot of head way as a team.
