Greetings everyone.
I've left this rather late - oh well. A long while ago now, Ed Boff alerted me to an upcoming event -
a showing of two Production IG films at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. This takes place this Wednesday at 6:30 pm.
The films are
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade and
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society.
Jin-Roh is a military/police drama set in an alternate history. Its the 1950s, and instead of the rapid post-war economic recovery of real history, things in Japan are going from bad to worse. An elite quasi-military police unit is formed to prevent mass uprisings in Tokyo - the so-called 'Wolf Brigade'. I've seen the first half of this and I really want to see the rest - its quality work. Although he didn't direct,
Mamoru Oshii of
Patlabor and
GitS fame was heavily involved.
Solid State Society, of course, is the movie follow-on to the
GitS: SAC 2nd GIG TV series. I've seen it, and you can take it from me that its jaw-droppingly awesome.
The ICA is 10 minutes from Piccadilly Circus (put SW1Y 5AH into google maps).
I understand that many of those reading this who are still in London will be at
dwagon's Exalted game at the time - but to those who aren't - assuming there are still tickets available, would you be interested?
