Oh wow, so here I am, back on LJ! I check my Friends Page from time to time, but I've decided to start posting every so often again. I doubt anyone will read, much less be entertained, but oh well

oh I totally agree that other players are overpaid. In fact, I thing EVERY player in every major sport is overpaid. Most of them are making millions a year, and even the worst players are making a league minimum $500,000 a year! When teachers and police officers make about 1/10 of that a year (if that) it's pretty absurd. But what the Yankees can do is offer more money to players than other teams can. You're right that players from other teams are overpaid, but if you look at the payroll numbers, the Yankees are by far the most overpaid sports team in history. In fact, A-rod makes more money a year (25 mil) than the entire Florida Marlins team!
As far as the history of the team, you're right that no other team has won as many world series as the Yankees. I do like the Yankees of yesteryear. They had some pretty amazing players (Ruth, Gehrig, Dimaggio, Mantle, etc.) And of course, back then, baseball wasn't the multmillion dollar business that it is today. Ball players in the 1930s-1960s (when the Yankees won the majority of their world series) were dramatically underpaid, so I have no beef with those Yankee teams. They were just really good.
I also think all major sports players are overpaid as well. It's ridiculous! I mean, they are getting paid to exercise a lot and play the games... then get arrested for drug abuse and dog-fighting. I wish I could get away with that for multi-millions a year! (Okay, not really...)
