Christmas Before Christmas
I'm SO tired right now, but I want to update anyway.
It's Christmas Eve and definitely does not feel like it. Our family has run into some seriously shitty financial issues this year and I feel horrible because I'm pretty sure my siblings' Christmas morning is going to suck for them. And then the presents I got them are currently in Chicago, in my lost luggage. Wait a sec Angela, you might be thinking, why would you have luggage lost in Chicago? Well let me tell you about it...
First off, I'm not mad that my luggage is MIA. I just want it back before Xmas morning (which it will be, but barely). I couldn't afford much at all, but I did what I could for my siblings. My friends are getting ripped off, and I feel really badly about that, but Christmas means so much more to little kids so that's where my priorities are right now. I feel even worse that my mom is getting ripped off too because I wish I could get her something REALLY nice. I know she won't mind but yeah... it's just one of those things.
Anyway, getting on with my story. So I had luggage because I went to NJ! I think almost everyone knew that but I'll tell the story anyway. I left super early Thursday morning and flew into Newark to meet up with Brian. The time went by insanely fast. It's ridiculous to think that this morning I woke up and I was in NJ, and now I'm back in crummy ol' Escanaba. Don't get me wrong, I love my family and all, but getting to visit NYC during Christmastime kinda made this place look like a dump. It also kinda stinks because, since most of my family moved away and we aren't exactly close, holidays are kinda dull. Brian's family is definitely awesome and so are his friends, so I had a great time over there, even if we didn't spend a lot of time together.
I feel like I did sooooo much stuff the past few days that there's no way I could possibly write it out here. I'll give a brief overview, if anyone cares lol...
Thursday: Drove to Green Bay/flew out, stopped in Chicago, flew out to Newark. Drove around w/Brian, met his family, had dinner with his parents. Drove around and looked at ridiculous mansions decorated for Christmas, then went along the Hudson river and looked at the NY skyline.
Going on: approximately 3 hrs. sleep
Friday: NYC!!! Left the house around 10:30ish, took a ferry to the city, and was there all day long. Amazing! :) Hung out with one of Brian's friends later that night, then went home and watched Elf... except I was too tired.
Going on: approximately 4 hrs. sleep
Saturday: Got up at a reasonable hour and ate breakfast with the 'rents (who are awesome). Drove to NY to Bear Mountain and enjoyed some scenery as well as a snowball fight... with the 1 lousy pile of snow that was there. Went bowling with some of Brian's friends and surprisingly didn't suck that badly, yay! Went home after that and then went right back out to the mall and ate at the Cheesecake Factory. Can we say heaven on earth?
Going on: approximately 4-5 hrs. sleep
Today: Got up at 5:00 to get ready for the airport. Got delayed in Newark because the engine had some leaky-something-or-other and had to switch planes. Luckily made my flight in Chicago back to Green Bay!! Then drove home about 2 hours later than I was supposed to... minus my luggage. Sad because I don't know when I can go back :(
Going on: 2.5 hrs. sleep
All in all, an amazing time with a wonderful person. I guess now it's time to watch Full House till it's "Family Time", when I get to enjoy some Christmas cookies and eggnog. Then it's time to crash... hard. Yay!
