Eiri begins preparing himself when the front door opens. He knows the routine: Shuichi comes in, jumps in his lap, prattles on about the details of his day until Eiri shuts him up and tells him to make coffee.
Shuichi walks in and Eiri awaits the inevitable chatter. But all Shuichi says is, “I bought you coffee.” He hands Eiri a cup from Starbucks, kisses his cheek, and leaves.
Eiri’s stunned. Almost concerned. Until he sees Shuichi’s entire day written on the plastic coffee cup. Eiri doesn’t know which is sillier-that or him sitting there, reading the whole thing.
