Celes had decided to take a walk that morning. She'd almost left a note for the girl to see before she remembered that all important thing: Toph was blind. So, Celes settled for letting the computer say where she was and headed out into the streets. She wasn't sure why she felt the need to get away, but it probably had to do with the fact that Toph didn't seem to remember anything from when they had first met and it was driving Celes up the wall with fury at the Gate for such a cruel punishment ( ... )

Children would be rushing toward a nearby job bulletin, and it immediately made the vampire think of the London Rats --- only a little cleaner. In the back of his mind, he was wondering if perhaps one of them could be the handsome young Halley, but turned against the idea of approaching them. Instead, he'd carry on. He was enjoying the fact that he didn't have to walk around in costume in Twilight Town.

By now, all this moving about had lost its novelty. He would want to rest for a while before continuing his exploring. Brilliant orbs would narrow around the town's square, and upon landing on a nearby woman and an empty seat, he approached.

"Greetings, Madam," he said with a smile. "May I take the seat beside you?"

Celes' eyes were following the blonde as he approached. He wasn't giving off any "vibes" that she could tell, good or other, and while that was a good thing in general, it also meant she had no reason to turn down his request. There was no reason to doubt him yet.

With an inward sigh, she visibly looked at him and nodded slightly, one arm resting on the leg closest to the swords so that her fingers dangled within quick reach of her blades. She was sizing him up in her mind, though it wasn't entirely easy to see that. Something was slightly off about him, but not enough to set any alarms ringing.

"I'm not waiting on anyone." Her eyes weren't cold, but they were cautious. In the past, she'd had too many people backstab her and even though she knew no one here would recognize her, it was hard to break old habits, particularly ones of survival. "Are you here on an errand?"

And so he would smile with as much charm as he could, thank her, and take the spot. She seemed to be a rather "nervous" young woman, what with her hesitation, however he could understand. A stranger was a stranger, though he did not mean her any harm at all. It was not in his nature to harm a woman.

Silence passed them by, and the blonde found himself resting his chin in the palm of his hand. Staring out to the streets lazily, his smile became peaceful.

Then, when the female beside him spoke, Keith blinked. "Ah, I'm afraid not." he answered. "I suppose you can call me a traveler, Miss. . ." He paused, dragged out the final word for a moment. "Pardon me, but may I ask to be blessed with knowing your name?"

Celes was nervous about giving out her name in general, even if she knew no one from her homeland had arrived here so far. It just wasn't something she did anyway. She was too used to having people turn around and snarl at her because of who she was. She was rather infamous at home anyway for some of the deeds she'd done for the Empire and even when she'd declared herself a Returner, there had always been doubters.

Taking a breath, she tried to put all that behind her and offered as relaxed an expression as she could without outright smiling. "Celes Chere," she responded. "May I know your name?"

In days past, she would have demanded to know his name before she gave her own, but at least now she could convince herself that she was at least relatively safe from any kind of torment her name would bring.

That was certainly different, much like he expected. He had always liked hearing names, for they were always different and very interesting.

"What a beautiful name," he complimented. "I'm Keith Valentine. Please, just call me Keith. It's a pleasure to meet you, Celes."

He would take notice of her nervous actions, despite how well she was hiding them. It would be understandable, wouldn't it? After all, he did just come out of no where and invade her space. Part of him felt a little bad for doing such a thing.

[ooc; Sorry for the lame D:]

Celes was not used to being complimented in general, much less on something as mundane as her name. Usually when people heard it, they would call her more colorful names, none of which would be very flattering.

The former general blinked a few times before offering what could be considered the very edges of a smile. "Thank you. It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Keith." She paused a moment, glancing over at him before she continued. "You look like you are from another world, not one of these known as the Centerverse."

From the looks of it, it seemed the blonde had struck a few nervous points, thus softened his smile a little. She looked like a tougher version of Miss Alice, which really brought on a little comfort and some amusement. by now he was wondering what she was up to before he was questioned.

A small grin formed on his face. "Correct," he replied. "I'm not from this universe." This convinced him even more that he merely slept through time, accidentally wound up here. "I am from, oh how would you put it. . . ?" The vampire moved his hands, as if to bring the word into his body. "Earth." . . .well, that was the best Miss Celes was going to get for now, until later, anyway. "What about you? Is this your original time?"
