Toph could relate to feeling restless. "Yeah, I was thinking about checking out some of the other worlds the tiny twinkletoes and a bunch of other people've told me about." She hadn't thought to ask Celes yet, but she'd been wondering... "Are the gummi ships made of metal, or would I not be able to see on them? I never liked flying much, but I'm used to it by now." With a grimace, she mused, "At least it's better than being under the ocean."
A grin crossed Toph's face as she sensed another very familiar set of vibrations approaching them. Considering that the conversation she'd shared with the benevolent firebending general had consisted of almost nothing but references to his nephew, she was sure this reunion was one he'd been anticipating for a very long time.
"Good to see you, Tea General." The name wasn't quite right... much like in the case of Sparky Sparky Boom Man, there had to be a better one out there, but it'd do for the time being. Toph supposed she should have expected his offer, and smirked. "There's one down the street. Their tea's not quite as good as yours, but it's not bad."
Zuko had to admit that even though he was fairly comfortable where he was in Traverse Town, he found himself mildly wondering about the other worlds. They sounded so different and like nothing he was used to in his world. He supposed it was what brought him here instead of just wandering Traverse. "I'm... not really sure. They might be put together with some but they're made out of this really weird substance. I've never seen anything like it," he replied, thinking back on his trips on gummi ships.
"I guess you could always just ask people who work on the ships."
But another familiar voice caught his attention before he could say much else. He whipped around to make sure his ears weren't deceiving him and was glad to know they weren't. It was so refreshing to hear that voice and know that it didn't sound angry, but all the pent up emotions he'd felt over the past few weeks from when he realized Uncle Iroh was on these worlds, to the nightmares... It wasn't enough. Even if his uncle told him he forgave him, they were just words he'd read over a journal. He was so shaken up then, he'd tried to place the words to Uncle Iroh's voice but he couldn't hear them. He needed to hear it.
There was no way his uncle could just... forgive him so easily after betraying him the way he had. Zuko had a hard time believing it. It baffled him how the man could be so calm and happy, and towards him no less.
Iroh's question seemingly went unheard, though Zuko became aware that his fists were clenched so hard at his sides that his muscles were quivering. No matter how hard he tried to hold himself together, his shell was cracking. He didn't care about how many people stopped and stared, and he didn't care that Toph was probably going to tease him for it later. He just reacted.
Hot tears escaped from the corners of his eyes, even when he tried to hold them back, and he threw his arms around the older man's shoulders. "I know you said you forgave me, Uncle, but I... I'm so, so sorry," he said, voice cracking slightly. "You have every right to be disappointed in me... so why aren't you?"
Perhaps it was so hard for him to understand because Zuko grew up knowing only how to hold grudges rather than free his mind and forgive-- and because he'd dwelled on his guilt for so long...
He pulled back to get a look at his uncle's face, eager to know what it was that made it so easy for him.
OoC: Redid my post because Zuko totally underreacted to Iroh in my post I realized, after watching the Avatar movie. :| I also didn't mean to make that post so huge. Feel free to kick my muse.
Between the restless nights wondering about Katara, Aang and his father Sokka had seen better days. Not to mention Zuko had just up and left the tea shop leaving him alone to face the owner alone who (judging by his crappy attitude) was having even worse nightmares. There was one solution to the problem that didn't involve him taking Zuko's shift.
He left. Somewhere peaceful and meek that didn't involve a whole lot of money: Traverse Town. The day he had spent was boring so far aside from the landscapes that would be nice to ink. Something drew him on and as he stretched, yawning quite loudly and obnoxiously as he walked through the streets. As soon as his eyes were open he stopped dead in his tracks: ...was that Toph? The lump standing near by made up of two people embracing looked like Zuko and his crazy uncle. Rather than disrupt the moment he waved frantically towards Toph, stopping and letting his arm fall. "Oh. Right." He inched past them slowly but was much more conspicuous than he would have liked, "Not interrupting the sentimental moment. 'Scue me. Pardon me."
