As if it was the first time he had ever seen The World That Never Was fall victim to a shower of rain, the young had opened all the windows in his tiny apartment. There was nothing to do today, no work, no shopping, and with Luke at work, he had the chance to just stop, relax. He reflected on the past few days, uneventful though they were.

Ever since the mental plague that struck him and his replica, a rather dull, sullen veil was cast over the place. Luke's attitude never changed, yet Asch found himself choosing his words a little more carefully around his replica. Anger hadn't been bubbling, either. This would be called nice, however it did not feel right.

. . .though, dare he say, there was a little twitch of jealousy rising, what with the other's constant talk of some blue-haired creep at the bar. The ex-God General didn't exactly care for someone harassing Luke, but then Luke didn't seem to mind. "Sure, he's a little weird. . .and he sounds like Dist, but he's not so bad after a while," he'd say.

Ring, ring~

Snapping back to reality, the youth shot the door a rather strange expression, then lifted himself from the couch. Not bothering to check through the peep-hole, he'd play with the locks, swing the door open, and surprise himself with the company.

". . .Fox?!"

Tapping his foot while he waited, Fox looked out at the street aimlessly. It was really coming down. He was thankful for the sort of awning that extended far enough to keep anyone on the steps dry. Not that it did him all that much good, seeing how anything that could get wet around his coat already was. Oh yes, he would be buying an umbrella some time in the near future.

The door swung open and Fox received very much the greeting he was expecting.

He smirked. "Good to see you too."

The fox had thought of a thousand things to say, but not a single one of them would come to mind now. Just as well, it wasn't like he wanted to talk out here anyways. Shifting to try and keep the suitcase from view, he put on a pleasant look. Meanwhile, mentally guessing the odds of whether his partner would let him inside or leave him out in the rain.

For a moment, the company would only receive a blank stare. This wasn't the first time Fox managed to find his way onto Asch's doorstep. However, this was the first time he wasn't bleeding all over the place. It was a well-known fact that his on-and-off work-partner hated this world, thus never really came to see him on casual terms.

Shaking his head to clear his senses, the red-head pushed the door open further and gestured an invite to come and get out of the rain---even though it seemed like Fox had been wandering for hours, what with his coat dripping.

". .What are you doing here?"

Really, would it kill the guy to just say hi?

Accepting his partner's invitation, fox stepped through the door and started shedding his coat. An act that required him to set his suitcase down, of course. Asch would have to be blind not to notice it. He wouldn't be happy, Fox was sure, but that didn't seem quite so imposing now that he'd made it past this hurdle.

Letting the coat hang from one hand by the collar, he shrugged, "Well, since we seem to be in the practice of showing up at each others houses unexpectedly, I just figured it was my turn." He glanced over the room, "Hey, is your brother around?"

. . .was that so?

He'd supply the other with another idle gaze as he removed his jacket. Without missing a beat, he narrowed the look to the medium-sized traveling case by his boot. For now, questioning would be avoided to save annoyance; he blocked it and shut the door.

"How thoughtful," was all that could be thought of while snatching the soaking article. The piece would be draped over the chair that sat by his desk. He began to wonder further if this would become some kind of habit later--even though he didn't really count on it, what with Agrabah being the worst next to Radiant Garden.

Bringing his attention back to Fox, Asch forced a shrug to his the twitch over the word "brother." "No, he's not. He's at work." Probably gossiping it up with that blue-haired S.O.B., too.

That was probably a stroke of luck, no need to get the younger Asch mixed up in all this. He'd expected the other to be a little more demanding by now. Perhaps it was shock. Any other day he might have teased a bit and done his best to avoid the point. Today, however, he was just a little bit desperate. And tired. And irritated...

"Okay look," rubbing at his forehead, he tried to recall just how he'd planned to break it to Asch, "Sorry for the short--lack of notice, but I kind of need a favor. I'm moving and I need a place to stay until I can work out all the arrangements. A few days, a week tops, and I'll be out of your hair."

Would Asch agree just like that? He strongly doubted it. The thought of the interrogation that was probably waiting for him made the fox sigh internally. Today needed to just end already.

Had Asch been the type, he would have been amused by Fox's explanation. However, he was not the type, nor in the mood to carry out a difficult attitude.

. .okay, so that was a bit of a lie.

"Riiiiiight," He crossed his arms and cast a slight glare upon his comrade. "The last time you said you'd be out of my hair, you ended up spending the night." More could have been added--like bleeding all over the couch--but it would be left alone.

There was also the fact that Fox hated this world. Unless it was serious, there was absolutely no reason why he'd want to move in for a while.

"How about you tell me the real reason?"

"Yeah, and I'm sorry that my almost being dead inconvenienced you so." Besides, if he really minded then why hadn't the other simply woken him up back at the time?

"That is the 'real reason.'" Fox snapped. Well it was. Mostly...

Growling, the fox took a moment to consider his position. How to best put this..there was really no getting around it was there? "I'm in a bit of trouble and I need to get out of town. For...a while." He finished, looking off to the side.

What a passable answer --- sort of. There was still a skeptical vibe from this conversation, and the fact that Fox came here of all places. . . Well, it just wasn't sitting right.

. .But whatever, Asch would suppose. If his comrade wasn't in the talking mood for it, then he'd leave it alone. For now.

Raising an eyebrow, he shrugged. "Fine. Sure. You can stay." He'd even cut him some slack and not poke about three-waying the rent -- Luke would probably be a little sour towards that idea, though.

"You're free to do whatever -- no cooking, though. It's bad enough Luke insists on making meals some nights."

All the time he'd spent dreading this meting and he made it out with just a Fine. Sure. You can stay. Something about this was way too easy...

"Uh, yeah," Fox scratched his head, "No need to worry."

"And..thanks." Well, that was a little awkward. And rightly so. After all, the last time they'd met had been over Asch's new brother and before that...

That wasn't really a memory he needed at the moment. But, he supposed, that might be one benefit to this situation. Perhaps they could finally get things beck to normal between them. Or so Fox hoped, at least.

Things were going to be a little crowded now, weren't they? Clearly Fox didn't take much room, and he did pack small, but the apartment was small. Asch supposed that was his fault -- even if he never expected any of the recent events to happen. Oh well, he though. Oh well.

Perhaps the only problem was bedding -- and Luke. Speaking of him, the ex-knight would have to fill him in on touching up his manners. And shutting up. And not touching Fox's ears and tails in the middle of the night. And whatever else he was forgetting.

"Don't mention it," said the youth, a faint smile threatening his mouth. He almost wanted to add "Enjoy your stay," but didn't. Odds were staying with an original and his replica were going to drive the poor guy insane.

". . .Welcome home, I guess."

What a relief. The fox let his shoulders relax a bit. Picking up his suitcase, he set it by the chair with his coat. What to do now. Looking for a new place could wait till tomorrow. It had been and exhaustive day, now he just wanted to kick back a little.

Leaning over the back of the chair with arms crossed, he looked first at the table, then back at Asch.

"So, how've you been?"

He'd watch his company for a moment as he made himself comfortable, then reclaimed his spot back on the couch. Inclining to face him, there was a shrug.

"Nor--" His voice caught in his throat before he could say more. Ha, ha, normal was the wrong word. Silly Asch. ". .Decent," he corrected. "Past few days have been tiring, but Luke's. .really helped ease things. What about you?"

"That's good." It was somehow odd to hear Asch talk like that. The red-head's relationship with this brother of his still puzzled the fox.

Seeing Asch move across the room, he straightened his back and followed slowly. "Things were going fine for me too," he rested his elbows on the back of the couch, above the space next to where Asch was sitting, "until this morning."

As an afterthought, he added. "I had this nightmare the other night, but other than that not much has happened." Well, nothing new there.

A brow rose a bit at the "Until this morning" comment. The excuses his company was using weren't exactly his style -- if that's what it could be called. For a moment, the red-head felt the need to press the subject again, yet decided against it.

. . .he would get it out of him though.

Then, attention would be brought elsewhere. ". .You had one too?" It was asked almost eagerly in a way. Funny. At least now Asch knew that it was just him and Luke.

Too?

"Uh, yeah." Fox scratched his head, "What about it?" Come to think of it, hadn't he heard about lots of people having nightmares around that same time? Strange that he never really thought about it until now.

Not that he'd had much of a chance. It was such a relief to finally be able to get that off his mind. Idly he wondered if Asch would mind if he sat down.
