The scientist

Having actually stayed the entire previous evening at the lab, Clarke was able to get of there at a reasonable time today. He still hadn't touched his personal projects but the evidence backlog was now at a reasonable level and the breakthrough he made at 1 am this morning was very important for one the cases. He felt like a success for all the work he did and for the way he had behaved the entire day: friendly but professional.

The holidays, Clarke's vacation and the mess with Le Tetard mess had kept Clarke and Sam catching up with one another for several weeks. It was really mostly Clarke's faults, it hadn't felt right to keep Sam around while he was pinning for Jen. She wasn't a consolation prize and he did not want her to feel like one. Also, like most people, he had no desire to see Sam while he was the human bruise. Clarke was really excited to spend time with her tonight.

He was just as happy to stay in as she was, especially having essentially pulled an all-nighter the day before. By the time she said she was on the way over, his tie, jacket and slacks from work were hung up, his socks and shirt were in the hamper and he was newly changed into a t-shirt and gym shorts. He was half a day past a 5'clock shadow and his red hair was still slightly damp from the shower. He ordered a small variety of Chinese food from Mr. Chow's and sat on the couch with a beer and the Wizards game on TV.
