Silvas took the less traveled halls as he headed to meet the others. Despite his desire to flaunt his identity to Christov before killing him he certainly didn’t want the whole colony to know.
Seeing the two men who waited for him brought a measure of relief. They were skilled, determined and loyal the rest didn’t matter much to Silvas. The task was going to be far from easy and a whole lot more dangerous then he would have liked but it had to be done. His mind drifted back to the woman he had left sleeping in his bed as his companions began to speak. He couldn’t help but wonder if he would ever see her smiling face again.
Glancing around his eye fills with concern, “Where’s the Psi Cop?”
Both companions shrugged. There was no time to wait and it was likely the Psi cop was already waiting near Christov’s quarters. With a brief glance between the three they parted. Each knew their part that they must play to make the job work.
Snake had to act first and act quickly. He ran toward the unoccupied security booth. It was locked but that was the least of Snake’s worries. Deftly he removed the ventilation panel over the door and slipped inside replacing the panel.
He paused before the computer screens and noted the camera angles. Quickly he chose three of them to loop the feed of the empty corridors there by masking the actions of the others.
“Now the alarms.” He muttered leaving through the door and nonchalantly heading farther into the “secure” areas. The place crawled with guards and the control center was an impossible target as he looked at the growing number of people inside.
“Shit” He wondered if there was another way. His eyes studied the cables and then he got an idea. “If you can’t turn them off why not set them off?” It was a dangerous move.
He raced down the stairs toward the transport train. Night time on the colony though busy offered the availability of empty train cars. He walked quietly into the back car. He glanced around “alone...good”
Making his way to the front of the car. He didn’t even try the door as he knew from previous jobs that it was locked from the outside instead he opened the window. The fire alarm started whining as the lights went out and the red emergency lights came on. He smirked as he climbed out the window and across to the link between the cars.
Catching his balance for a moment he chanced a glance at the tracks speeding past beneath the cars. He pressed his eye closed against the dizziness as he again steadied himself. Sighing he stared into the dark at the controls. His hands felt in the dark for the right sequence of buttons. He knew this panel. It wasn’t the first time he had derailed one of these train cars.
A smirk spread on his face as he saw the flashing green light that signaled the proper disconnection codes. Snake pressed himself against the previous train as he watched the one he came from disappear into the dark.
”Part one executed.” He mumbled hoping Gunrunner had not started his part yet. Jumping nimbly from the train to the tracks Snake started to run down the service passage. He drew his Magnum, just in case. It was habit as he raced through the dark. He stumbled a few times before he reached the door.
Snake threw his shoulder into the door and then fumbled for the huge button used for fire emergencies. He slammed his fist into it and disappeared like a ghost into the dark of the railway.
