Fucked...

So, Cenotype is on hold indefinitely.  I had one of my worst nightmares realized last night.

I have been playing with two stage configurations for almost 4 years now (1 for Life Cried & 1 for Cenotype).  The stage config with Life Cried has been:

(1) 2-tiered x-stand:

+ 1st tier = keyboard & audio interface
+ 2nd tier = laptop

We had a "surprise" ( Read more... )

to get your data off, plug your damaged laptop into another mac via firewire.

Swith the other mac on first, then turn the damaged machine on whilst holding down the 'T' button on your keyboard, this will load the damaged machine as an external device on the working machine and you can pull all your data off.

Really sucks that it's happened - one of my cameras fell victim to stage vibration at COMA and walked off the stage during the Pneumatic Detach set - fortunately my home contents insurance covered it (I didn't tell them it happened in Canada) and I got a rather nice replacement out of it...but that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as it went over really wasn't fun...

i hope that works because to be honest if you can't see the firewire logo come up then it's hard to tell.

i used to work in insurance

call up and make sure your home contents is cool with a new for old policy... if not...set it up...

call up insurers 2 days after and claim... an excess is better than full payout for a new mac...

delete this post... ie... what happened 'didnt'

you dropped it at home...it will be covered.

Yeah, my parents have my bassoon on their home owners insurance too. :-) You can put pretty much (well almost) anything you want to on it. :-)

Yah, I'm sure if something went wrong with the computer that was fault, it would cover it, in all honesty. I guess I can't blame them for not wanting to cover my stupidity, heh.

That fucking blows!!! Good to see the comments already have good advice for recovering files and getting coverage. Tony's advice seems like a damn good way to go.

Take it to TekServe and see what they can do. If anything you can put that harddrive into another computer...???

Was thinking about Tekserve, however only Apple can work on the computer or it may void my warranty.
