Ow! (and some Blackpool pics...)

I’m sorry I’ve not been about much the last day or so and I am behind on so many emails and posts. My RSI has suddenly caught up with me, and so I am in huge amounts of pain - all of which I probably deserve. Ibuprofen is very much on the menu, however, so fic writing has been sadly delayed, but not, in any sense, cancelled!

training the voice recognition on my new laptop
Now that's more what I call an annoying and nasty task. I suspect it would annoy me even after it's trained. I don't get on well with such things (including predictive text systems, automatic spell-checkers etc).

My hand pains interfere with drawing rather than with computer keyboard use though - and there can't plausibly be a replacement trainable compu-artist thing for manual work like that. So I've been plotting individual pixels on the screen instead of sketching on paper much. I never did get on well with a tablet interface.

It's not too bad, as I've been using various forms of voice software for some time - four years ago, I had no use in my hands at all for a bit. The trouble is that voice recognition is useless to me for creative writing, which is what I love most, I just have to type or handwrite for that - both of which cause pain!

Sorry to hear about your troubles - replicating drawing skills is surely even harder!

So are your hands worse again because you went out this summer to have fun digging? Or is it purely a typing type of strain injury?

It's not the digging. I think its just over-doing it and being lazy with voice recognotion over the last few months. Sadly, the thing I love the most - writing - is bad for me! I'm regretfully badly made :P

The internet is full of slightly "defective" people - ie those who have problems of one type or another with reality. As the only virtual space (given the absence of telepathy etc), it's where they will inevitably congregate - or at least aggregate - in greater numbers.

Hehe, yes. But the trouble with me is that it's interfacing with un-reality (i.e. the internet, and computers in general) that's causes me the most trouble ;)
