Last weekend my crocuses were blooming and there were bees buzzing in them ( I think it was last weekend) and this weekend it's back to the 30's. Though by mid week, we may be up to 70 again... Yes, winter is drunk. I used to post a lot more about the change in the weather, but again, the weather is so freaking weird these days that weird is becoming normal. And again, I fear what he summer will be for heat, if we are nearly constantly 20 degrees or more above normal. But I think the last year we were this warm in the winter, the summer didnt turn out to be as hot as I expected. Last summer was pretty good as I recall. The summer before that, not so much I think. Time goes by so fast that I have to go back to the callenders to see what was when.
The boy was sick up at school this week. He had come home over the weekend and gone back up on Sunday, and seemed fine, but I guess on Tuesday he got a stomach bug and was going and throwing. Nothign more misserable than being misserable. He also ended up with chest pains and so he went to the hospital. I am guessign that since they sent him home a few hours later (after giving him fluids, which he probably really needed) that he was fine. I think he said they gave him prylosec, so I assume maybe the pain was from acid? I don't really know, because why would my kid really talk to me? Anyway.... He seems okay now I guess.
I'm painting a few things. Did a copy of a Dutch painting (well, part of it) from a postcard that we got at the MFA when the exhibit was in town. It's okay. I really really envy people who can paint well. I look at my paintings and they almost have a paint by number quality about them. They dont have that seemless blending of painters that I admire. I could try to take a course, but I dont take directions well and if I dont like the instructor, I'mprobably not going to learn much. I need to find some good on line courses I can just watch over and over. Free ones preferably, but if it were really good and cost something, it might be worth it
I used to write so much about politics, and I think about them a lot still, and post on FB, but rarely here. I voted happily for Sanders, not because I want free stuff...it wont help me or Himself for college. But I do want a sane person who is willing to try to change the laws on campaign finance. I'm hoping Bernie would try to do that. And when I say try... that's all I mean, because whoever gets in still has Congress to deal with. Same with Trump. I dont know what his game is, other than total self promotion, but considering he's basically a RINO, he still has to deal with Congress, and if they don't play ball or get along, we can see another 4 or 8 years of this stonewalling that they did with Obama. My thought is that if you are voting for Trump, watch to see who his VP is, because that person is who I think is going to end up as President. For one reason or another. I do not see Trump staying in office for a full term. I just dont. Though to be fair, Obama has survived, and I really figured there would be countless attempts on his life, and given the state of the Secret Service these days, the man is lucky to be alive it seems.
Work is work. Way ahead of last year cleaning up leaves and such, even with the showers of sticks that come weekly it seems. That is basically due to the fact that we had at least half as many leaves as normal last year, from the drought and from the bugs eating them. And on top of that since is was so dry, we were able to mulch up the leaves for hte most part into smaller piles. All that worked out very well.
TV is a bright spot.. House of Cards just started again, in case we didn't have enough of politics, Walking Dead and Better Call Saul are a bright spot in the week. And soon we'll have Game of Thrones, Dare Devil and Outlander to entertain us. Its all good man, its all good. ;)
Oscars... did I write about that yet? Thrilled that Spotlight won best picture. I was getting a bit nervious that they might name Mad Max in that catagory too. Was hoping that Matt Damon would have won for the Martian, I really enjoyed that performance. I was dissapointed with Chris Rock's hosting, though not completely. I expected some cutting, biting comedy, and some of it was, but I felt more like I was being scolded by my grandmother. I did like his bit about how black people had better things to worry about in the 60s than who won for best annimated short, but a lot of the other stuff just didnt delvier the punch I expcted. I think Whoopi would have done a better job, from past experinces. But whatever. I was sorry that Lady Gaga didnt' win, her performance was very good, and hey, I didn't even know about the movie before her song.
