I probably wont offend anyone here, so it's safe to vent about the sacred. My FB feed has an image of a town fire department that got a girder from the wreckage of the World Trade Center. It's a warped, rusty I beam. It's going to become a memorial to 9/11 at the firehouse I guess. I thought this was pretty weird in and of itself. Somethign akin to religious relics of saints. Then I see photos of them covering the beam with a flag, as if it's a dead body. Now I'm totally thinking people have way too much time on their hands. It's a piece of metal folks, it's not sacred. It's one of hundreds of thousands of tons of metal that came down. And it seems to me the 9/11 memorial at the site should suffice. This cult of death/roadside memorials thing goes too far. And this from someone who's buisness is death and remembering the dead.
