Russia and the Oscars

I think our president is a wet noodle. Lets just start with that. He inspires no respect. And here we have Kerry all over the news warning Russia 'you better not!" when everyone knows it's meaningless drivel. Maybe it's all a show.. maybe behind the scenes its all been taken care of. I don't know. If it is, it's a really bad act and a really bad show.

I know it's not pc to be in support of any country that invades another country (unless of course it's our own) but there is way more to this than the news is making of it. Of late, this wonderful revolutionary spirit seems to have only left decimation in their wake. That isn't such a big deal for the backwater countries I guess…. unless they have chemical weapons.. but when they have nuclear potential? Well, that's a little more serious.

Corruption rampant in the country? Sure, no doubt. Putin an asshole? Absolutely. But what about the rumors that the protesting faction, or one of them, was virtually a Nazi group? And what kind of red line are you going to put in the sand? That worked so well with Syria.. and we saw what happened in Georgia. As I see it, Russia will come in, restore order.. and bring the sheep back into the fold. And there isn't a goddamn thing we are going to do about it.

And on to frivolity.

I thought Ellen did a fair job of MCing the show. Generally it went well, though some of it did drag a bit. No big 'show biz' segments, that's always a plus. Singing is fine. I kept expecting a dance routine to erupt behind Let it Go.. but they held it back. That's good I though there were a few good acceptance speeches.

I really wouldn't have voted for 12 Years a Slave for best pictures. And given that the other nominee was about AIDS, and so many people in Hollywood have connections to those that have died of the disease.. I thought that would have more sway. As a movie, Dallas Buyers Club was far more watchable. 12 Years was brutally honest. More so than the brutal sex or drug use in Dallas. I'm glad I saw it, but I'd never watch it again. I would watch DBC again.

I dont' usually care about the dresses, but I did think that Cate Blanchette's dress was fantastic. Though my first thought was it was a big dress full of keys or the wall you hang keys on . Anyway…. that's about all for the moment. I should post about Mrs. Moose's silliness soon, she's been active again.
