The sick.. it is here

So yesterday was busy busy busy.
Started the morning making a decoration for the door at the cemetery. Then decided that since the boy had been out of school for three days, that I needed to get him to the doctor and get him looked at. He had a hacking cough but also diarrhea, which was kind of strange, getting the stomach bug and a cough.. but whatever. The cough had been there since Sat. night, the last night of his play. So off we go to the Dr. They listen to his lungs and he's fine that way, but they are concerned he might be dehydrated. He looked bad.. you know that death warmed over look.. he had it. Blood pressure was a concern.. so they sent him to the ER for IV fluids. So meanwhile I had to drop him off with dad to go to the ER so I could get my car back, which was having the oil changed and the emergency brake adjusted (so it will be all set for the divers test for himself).

Well, when I got the car back, I noticed the brake was REALLY STIFF! I had to pull it like a bastard to get one click. And by the time I got home, the front wheels (and this is weird because it should be the rear wheels) smelled bad, like burning but not as bad as other times I've smelled burning tires)

So I called them back immediately, and the mechanic had left but I am taking it back tomorrow morning. My brother rolled the car with the brakes off and it squeaks like when you have the brake on.. so I am assuming it's not releasing all the way. I will be pissed if this fucked up my brakes.

So back to the boy.. They gave him IV fluids, but were not happy with his cough, so they did a chest x-ray and found he had a 'touch' of pneumonia, which apparently is also what's giving him the diarrhea???? I'm not sure if I'm getting this right. So he got IV antibiotics too, and has pills to take. The good news is that he's doing better on the stomach side, but he's still coughing up a storm. Although he said he'd take the pneumonia over the diarrhea any day. Poor thing. Hopefully by Monday he will be back to normal. He's not going to be happy at losing two full days, but hopefully at least they were pretty light, being that it was going into the holiday and all.

So needless to say we did not go to NH as I had planned. I felt bad about that but there was really nothing I could do. No way was I dragging him up there. Figures too since it was good weather and no funerals. Sigh.

I made a duck and trimmings which was okay, but honestly the duck was way too greasy. I started it in the oven, but it immediately started to smoke up the house, so I moved it out to the grill and that worked out well, just put a heavy piece of aluminum foil over the grates.. only the threat of a flash fire..   Duck was hard to carve. No easy breast like  chicken or turkey. And it was all dark dark meat. I like dark.. but really.. it was too dark. Oh well. The sides were yum, and the apple pie with whipped cream was just ducky! Himself even ate some of the food.

I also made my mother a necklace today out of beads that match her earrings that my Stepfather got her from Alaska. Totally coincidental the last time she was down she was showing them to my aunt and I and I just happened to have in my purse a little bag of beads that I had bought the week or so before, some of which matched perfectly with them. So I got a few more to go with it and made a nice necklace. I think she'll like it. Now of course my aunt will want one too. lol We are hoping to go up and meet her next weekend.. lets see if the weather cooperates.

I really need to get the pod stuff in tomorrow. The last of it. Sigh….
