Well, regardless of Ryther's reluctance, I told him I was taking the cat in today to be put to sleep. She was unable to eat much of anything, and was virtually choking on the piece of chicken (which she was eating the other day) that I gave her last night. Then this morning she was doing that same choking, head shaking thing just from drinking

As much as I try not to let Autumn so deep into my heart, I know that I will be equally devastated as I was when Nickie died. We can't help it, they rub, nose and purr their way into our hearts. Our lives would be less interesting, less complete and certainly less humorless without them.

I'm glad you were able to see when the end was there - holding onto an animal that is dying is not kind, but it's not easy. I'm frustrated that the first vet wouldn't honor your request - that's not what a vet is for.
