There's a boat for you, it's a beauty too...

So I have an inspiration for a painting by there's a catch, I know nothing about the subject. I was re-reading Mrknowitall's poem 'the bucket boy' and I thought it would make a great picture. But to do it I need to paint a ship, or the front of a ship, and that's where the problem lies. So I'm on line looking for references and resources. Thank goodness for Google images I have to say. I have the picture plotted out, just need more details before I get started. Who knows how it will turn out, but its something I'd like to do. I get kind of bored with the idea of landscapes and such, even though they may be pretty. What I like to paint is more narrative work, something that tells a story. Norman Rockwell, Wyeth, Boris or Michael Whelan ish. And I like to paint people, crazy as that sounds.
Which reminds me I still haven't posted my study of the model I did over the summer. She was the same model as the Marie sculpture. The funny thing about her is that I had such a hard time making her face look right, I hated her nose. And at the art show I saw a drawing done by the woman who had been sitting beside me at the studio, and her picture was wonderful, but the woman looked so ugly in the drawing, but that's because she got it right. And it's funny because this woman isn't 'ugly' really, but when you look at her closely, you just see that her face is harsh. Which probably makes her a really good model because most of them look... well, disturbing. Perhaps tomorrow I can finally get a picture up on here. For all three of you. lol

I do so miss the many people who used to be here on a regular basis. You were all very interesting in your own ways.
