Today was a perfect summer day. No humidity, nice temps, slight breeze. Gorgious!
We invited ourselves to the neighbor's grandmother's house to go swimming. She lives in the shadow of the new wind turbine in Hull, right by the water. I got some good shots of the wind turbine for my paintings. We went out on the kayaks and I got a bunch of different angles. Terrible pictures really, but I just need the shape and some idea of shadows. We also saw a coyote in the marshes, which is the second coyote I have seen in three days. Friday there was one in the cemetery. I thought it was a dog since it was near a woman who was walking through, but she came over and we talked to her and it wasn't her dog. It kept stopping to lick it's back, and she said it looked injured when she was close to it. Both the coyotes have been more red than gray, but they are not foxes. I have been talking to neighbors lately about how few coyotes there have been around since the spring. Now they are coming out of the woodwork in broad daylight. Hmmmm.
Before going to swim, I had to go to my cousin's for a Mary Kay party thing. I'm not a makeup person, and I wasn't going to go but she needed warm bodies, so I agreed. The last time I bought make up from Mary Kay was over 10 years ago when a friend got into selling it. I didn't own more than some eye liner and my mother's old blush, so I went all out and bought a bunch of stuff..... which I still have to this day. I only ran out of the 'foundation'? not even sure what it's called. The face paint that makes your skin all the same tone. So I thought I would buy some of that today. But of course Mary Kay's thing is that you can't buy the 'foundation' by itself. You have to get the cleansers with it. This was the same the last time. It's a shame because I do like the product. It does't feel like you are wearing putty on your face. Not that I wear make-up a lot. Dead people don't usually notice your looks. I was able to skip out before being interrogated to have my own party, which I wont be having. I don't have that many friends, and if I did, I wouldn't want to subject them to buying something they didn't want. That is the thing with all those tupperware, pampered chef, jewelry whatever parties. They feed off friendships. They can be fun and some of the products are great, but I don't like the pressure to buy stuff you don't really want or need. Generaly I don't subcribe to that kind of thing. If you need something from them great, but don't get pushy. It's not my job to support you by sacrificing my friends.
And in other news:
My fortune cookie for yesterday was
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Well, I'm trying, I'm trying.
Today I found a nude Mork doll at the dump, which I rescued to keep my nude Mulan doll company.
Also I read this in the paper. I thought the photo was a riot.

And lastly, you have until Wed. to bid on a lighthouse in Portsmouth, RI. Hog Island Shoal Light , with no plumbing and no electricity (light and foghorn operate on solar power) could be yours if the price is right.
