I was walking Lily today in some conservation land. This is the same place she snagged a mouse last year. It's fun for her, lots of exciting smells. So as she's poking along smelling ever little thing, I see something that looks like feathers on the ground. I figure it's maybe from a turkey, but when I drag her up close to see it, it's fur. Lots of fur. So I look around and not too far off, is a carcass of something big. I go over and it's what's left of an adult deer. Apparently the coyotes had a really good time last night. I of course had to run (drive) home (dragging the dog with me) so I could get my camera. I would love to have a deer skull, but I really don't think it would go over too well to carry an ax onto public property and walk out with a head. Ya know?
This was really fascinating (for me). I've never found a 'body' before. I'm putting the pictures under a cut, for those who might be faint of heart. Although there were no guts left. Actually, there isn't much left but fur and bones.
