Full moon fever

May 09, 2009 21:10

Today we were out shopping and saw some Creme Fraiche and thought we'd try it. Someone I thought said it was what they substitute for Clotted Cream. NOT! It's freaking sour cream. Something I'd put on my baked potato, not my english muffin. Blech. Damn expensive sour cream too.

We went to breakfast this morning, and I expected it to be busy, but it wasn't. Strange. It was nice though for it to not be so crowded and loud.
The woman sitting in front of us had two baby seats with tiny infants, one pink, on blue. She was doing something on her phone, and I couldn't help but notice how large she was, very mannish. Then her husband came over with their other son, about 4 I'd guess. He was a short and slightly pudgy guy. He started to accuse her of ignoring him and the boy so she could be on the phone. I actually expected it to escalate. But thankfully it didn't. All I could think of was that he had short mans disease. Then a short while later a couple came in and the guy was mad that they weren't serving lunch yet. It was then that I suspected it was a full moon, and actually it is. I just checked a while ago. Funny that.

I'm sick, or something. I woke up last night with a burning throat and I could hardly talk this morning. Ryther let me sleep a bit later while they did the papers. It wasn't much but it was something. I still had to get up. I took some dayquil and that improved things quite a bit. Now my nose is bothering me, but the throat is better. I just keep slugging down coffee. Seems to be working for the most part, although I'm sick of the coffee.

Tomorrow is Mother's day and Biv, who's mother died in February, has been trying not to dwell on it. She said something about scattering some ashes on some flowers or something tomorrow. She's also talked about getting a tattoo using some of the ashes in the ink. She has more ideas than you can shake a stick at. Her mother bought lots, but she isn't going to be buried there. Biv wants to buy a lot at my cemetery and sell the other lots, but then she talks about putting up a stone. She has no money... Full of ideas.
One of the things I think is bad about cremation in a way is that it keeps you from actually making a break from the deceased, and for some people I think that's not a good thing. I think Biv has too many options and will never be able to decide really what to do. If it were a body, it would be buried and done and I think she could move on better. Just my opinion.

We just got a sudden burst of rain. It's been a weird day. I put out laundry but took it in before it dried completely because it looked like it was going to pour any second. Then it got sunny again. I actually wanted to go to the cemetery and do some whipping, but I felt lousy and the weather was unsure. I did plant some impatient on my goddaughters grave.

As for weed whips and goats. Yeah, I would love to have someone bring in a heard of goats to clean up the cemetery instead of having to climb hills and push mowers and waste gas and pollute, but that just ain't going to happen. And I can just imagine what 'some' of the relatives would say, having all that goat poo on the graves (they want me to fertilize don't they?). In a perfect world, or in a greener world. The old Yankees would approve I think.

The on line news pointed out that gay marriage has been legal in MA for 5 years. Has it really been that long? Wow. Five states in five years.

The sparrows have babies in the nest. I heard them today. Sheesh, that was fast.

Ryther went to see Star Trek yesterday at lunch. We were going to see it today with Himself, but I was not up for it. Next weekend maybe.
