Wait for the other shoe to drop, or be thrown.

I thought it was funny, in a sad way, that the reporter threw his shoes at Bush. Then on NPR this morning, I was reminded that shoes and feet are very insulting in that culture, and that throwing your shoe at someone is about as low as you can go in an insult. It then reminded me of the 'hero' before he left, how he was going to take his shoes off and hang his feet off the back of a truck while traveling around in Iraq. And they wonder why we were not thrilled with him going over there. The Ugly American strikes again.

With all the downed trees in the western part of the state, I had forgotten about the whole Asian beetle thing. But on the radio today one guy was wondering what he was supposed to do with all the limbs and branches and trees that have come down, because they are forbidden to move it for fear of spreading the insect. Sucky situation. You don't want those bastards to spread, that's for sure. Public bonfires perhaps?

My funeral went well. It was late, and they lingered, but at least the grave held together and the vault man was the best they have. He used to do the Scottish Games, and he knows what he's doing. He also has the hydrolic truck, which is always a plus in situations like this. Just popped that vault right in.

Betty Page, the classic pin up girl who was the subject of a feature film recently, has died at the age of 85. http://www.chicagotribune.com/chi-121208-bettie-page-chicago-story,0,3764491.story
If you've never seen the movie The Notorious Bettie Page it's defiantly worth a rental.

I miss Mrknowitall. I hope he's doing okay. I imagine he is doing a lot of performances this time of year.

The weather here is howling. another warmer than should be day for mid December.

Oh, and a correction on the newspaper my brother found on Sunday. It was Dec. 14, 1975, which was also a Sunday. And the headline of the front page that he found while working on the ceiling? He didn't even notice it until today: "The Return of the Handyman". So bizarre.
