I won Bunco tonight! Woo hoo! Only the second time I have walked away with the prize money. (Well, half the prize money, we split it to the to highest winners.) Bunco, for those of you who do not know, is a dice game. It is also called Drunko, by husbands who may have arrived back home too soon. It's really an opportunity to get together and gossip and drink and eat. Its a great way to get to know your neighbors and see what they are like with a few exotic drinks in them. The game is relatively easy, and only requires 3 or 4 tables, a bunch of women, and some sets of 3 dice. The object of the game is simply to roll for 1's, 2's, 3's, etc. If you get 3 of a kind of the number you are rolling for, it's a Bunco, worth 21 points. If you get 3 of a kind of some other number, its a baby Bunco, worth 5 points. The lucky winner is supposed to also get some fuzzy dice to put in there car until the next game. I hate the fuzzy dice, so I let my co-winner have them. She is going to put them in her husband's new car. Lucky him.
Regarding a topic that came up at the game, we were discussing the folk lore that says that if you want to sell your house, bury a St. Josephs statue in the back yard. I had to look that one up. The desperate neighbor is going to try it I think, as her house has been on the market for a while and she really needs to sell it as she has purchased on a new home. I'll let you know if I hear that it worked for her.
Global warming is real folks. It's Jan. 6, and today I saw a flock of robins at the cemetery. I have been seeing robins all this fall and now winter, and they should all be gone by now. I know they come back sometimes in Feb. but this year, they never left.
