I just checked Ing Direct which now offers business CD's, but I have a problem. They want proof that I exist, and I don't have any. The cemetery has been incorporated for over a hundred years. I have none of the things they are asking for. I don't even know where I would find them, if they ever existed. I am going to have to talk to the accountant about that one.
I did some clothes shopping for the boy. I found one brand of socks that had some products made in USA. I could only find two brands of briefs, and they are all made in Thailand. Well, at least they still get some work. Funny thing about the underware was that I bought three packages, one white, one multi colored, and one green. They were all priced differently. White was cheapest, green most expensive. The whites were marked $7.50, the multi color $9, and the greens $12. All were on sale at least, but still... is green dye that expensive?
I was also disgusted that I could not find socks that were all cotton, or mostly all cotton. The ones I got are 75% cotton, 24% polyester, and 2% spandex. I like cotton. It's an environmentally bad plant, I know, but I like cotton. Hell, you can have my old socks and jeans to shred to make new socks, but I like COTTON!
I also bought some shirts for Himself for school. Two are too long in the arm. He's not as big as I think.
Still have to get some school supplies. Time is running out.
Rythter and I took a walk last night around the block for the exercise. On the way back I picked up about 12 cans, most crushed, and one big brown glass bottle. (I even found the bag to carry them in) Tonight we did the same walk, and I brought a bag, and on the way back picked up a bunch of plastic. It's really so disgusting all the trash there is on the streets. And its mostly non-biodegradable, things that are not going to go away unless someone picks them up, or once a year when the street sweeper comes along. They clog the drains and cause flooding, and no one gives a shit. They just keep on chucking. Part of it is that there is curb side recycling, and on windy days many things break free of their container. And a lot of it is just piggy humans. But do you think that people would have enough pride in their environment (i.e. their yard, their town) to bend over and pick up a few pieces of trash? It dosn't kill you, I promise. I do it all the time, and actually it feels good. You even find money sometimes. I found a dime and a penny tonight. I'm 11 cents richer!
We've been listening to the train whistle all day for the past few days. I can hear it at work and at home. Amazing how sound carries. They are testing the tracks and signals. Supposedly this thing is going to be open for business at the end of September, but honestly, it doesn't look like it's going to be done in time. At least they have installed lights at the two places I predicted death and dismemberment. That is a relief. Traffic tie ups should be horrid, but if it keeps people from stopping on the tracks... well, what can you do.
I signed up for a water color class with my aunt. I don't know if it's the same teacher, but it's where I took the one when I painted my cemetery water color which I really like. Maybe I can do something else as well. At least it's a chance to do some painting without interruptions.
I have been obsessing about Mrs. Moose's blog since she opened it back up to the public. She's gone all Christian (not that there is anything wrong with that), and is pushing her military wife ways. It's actually pretty funny, almost a parody, but then you realize it's not supposed to be funny. I vent on my other blog, the one no one reads, and no one should. Well Sushioga reads it sometimes, but I forgive her. lol. And still I wonder, what is happening with Mr. Moose?
My garden is fairly pathetic. I got one sad looking summer squash. There were two but one shriveled. My beans are either too big, or too dry. I never remember to go and pick them, or if I do, I forget to cook them. I have more flowers in my garden than food. I do have some cherry tomatoes doing well, but they come to fast (lol) and there are too many of them. I don't can, not sure if cherries are good for canning anyway. I haven't checked my carrots in a while, but the are in there somewhere. I never seem to have any luck with carrots, but I keep trying. I planted a few bean plants for my neighbor's boys, they brought them home from camp. Not sure if they will get any fruit from them, but they have a home anyway. I put the day lilies my father in law gave me in the garden for safe keeping. They seem happy. I am going to divide them up further in the fall I hope. And I planted 4 or five trees into pots that I dug up from my mothers. She has small beech trees around her property, and I love beeches. I hope to transplant them to the cemetery when they are bigger. The one dug up last year is doing very well and has doubled in size. Beech are beautiful trees, and can grow for hundreds of years (assuming some stupid disease doesn't get them). I also found a tiny birch, which I hope to raise to adulthood. And one blueberry bush. I don't have high hopes for that since I killed the last one. I don't really have a place for it in my yard, and one blueberry bush does not a muffin make.
It's very dry here. Very, very dry. But luckily we have not suffered the unending hot of the south and west. It's been hot, but we get breaks. I just wish we got some good rain. We need a week of steady, but not flooding rain just to recover a little. We really need a good snowy winter. Water bans are going into affect or have been in affect, and it's only going to get worse. I still have gallons in my rain barrel, so at least I will not have to worry for a while, but my grass is crispy, and we are not mowing at all at the cemetery. Just waiting it out.
