She paced in front of the two-way mirror like a lioness on the prowl as she looked over at the suspect they had in the interrogation room. Her partner was sitting at the table trying to stare him down, intimidate him, and getting no where with his questions. She was quickly growing weary of this perp and stalked over to him.
Olivia planted herself next to their suspect and leaned in, grabbing his face in her hand and squeezing it.
“We should send this pussy to Rikers and spread it around he likes to touch little boys,” her words were bitten off, her voice betraying the seething rage she was barely managing to keep at bay. “Wanna know what they do to pedophiles in prison Mikey?”
She let go of his face and began to pace again, circling the table.
“You’re a good-lookin’ guy Mikey. I bet you would make a lot of friends at Rikers. They’re always on the look-out for fresh meat.”
“Sounds like you’ve made the rounds up there yourself Detective,” their suspect, one Michael D’Angelo spoke up. He eyed her up and down. “I bet those boys loved breaking in a dyke like you.”
Elliot rose to stop her as the words left D’Angelo’s mouth, but he wasn’t fast enough. Olivia came around the table and grabbed a handful of the suspect’s hair, bending his neck back painfully. Memories of Sealview taunted her at his words and sent her spiraling out of control.
“One more word out of you Mikey and I will fucking cut off your dick and shove it up your ass.”
D’Angelo defiantly spit at her, the spittle landing on her cheeks. In reaction, Olivia punched him in the throat and was about to take another swing when Elliot wrapped his arms around her and pulled her back, away from the Italian.
“Let me go,” she struggled against Elliott’s strength.
“Not until you calm down.” Elliott half-carried her toward the door leading to the squad room.
The door opened and Captain Cragen and A.D.A. Alex Cabot entered the room.
“Get her out of here,” Cragen ordered, barely glancing at his two best detectives. His gaze went to the suspect, wondering if he would need to call a bus to have him looked at.
As Elliott half-shoved and half-carried Olivia from the room, Alex followed them, the clacking of her high heels sounding almost ominous.
“Benson with me,” she spoke in an icy tone, her blue eyes like chips of ice as she gazed at the brunette before going to the Captain’s office. A few moments later, a still smoldering Olivia Benson came in and closed the door firmly.
“What in the hell was that?” Alex folded her arms over her chest, her cold gaze on the other woman.
Olivia took a deep breath, quickly pondering her reply. She fought down a half-dozen angry retorts and dropped her gaze, slightly shaking her head.
“Nothing.”
A blonde brow lifted as Alex watched her.
“Nothing? You baited him verbally and physically, then you assaulted him. I thought you were more professional than that Olivia?!”
Her teeth ground together, but she said nothing. She didn’t want to take her anger out on the A.D.A.
“Just drop it Alex.”
“I can’t. I’m pulling you from the case.”
“You can’t do that!” Olivia shouted, her brown eyes blazing as they narrowed at the blue eyes in front of her.
“I won’t have you jeopardizing this case anymore than you have Detective. I thought your skin was thicker than that?! Just because he called you a dyke…”
Olivia cut her off.
“It wasn’t that.” Her hands dropped into her pockets as she looked down and scuffed a toe on the floor.
Alex noted her posture and took a deep breath, wondering what was going on in her lover’s head.
“Then what?”
The brunette shook her head.
“It doesn’t matter, Alex. I screwed up.” She looked up again. “It won’t happen again.”
“Talk to me Liv.”
Olivia shook her head again as an unreadable emotion flickered across her face.
“I can’t.”
“Liv?”
“No, don’t push me on this…please?” Her soulful brown eyes looked to Alex and silently pleaded with her. Hearing the door open behind her, Olivia’s face transformed to cool disregard. Her fears, sorrows and regrets once again caged behind impenetrable walls.
