My current obsession: Olivia Benson
Well lookie here! I am posting two whole days in a row...stop the presses! Anyways, I won't bother to piss and moan about my rotten day, my migraine that is teasing me with pain nor anything else that mundane. I thought I would give talk about my current obsession.
I get obsessed with music, stories, people or things and at times, that will take all of my focus. Last April, I went to see Bon Jovi in concert in KC, MO, but prior to that, I only listened to their music for months. I was the same way with Terri Clark, whom I want to be my baby momma, but that's a whole 'nother story, haha. Currently, I'm hooked on Law and Office: SVU, especially the character of Olivia Benson.
Olivia is beautiful, tough, independent, and kind. Her life has been tragic and she keeps her personal life personal. I think what draws me to the character is are similarities in our lives and the fact she is a beautiful woman who takes shit from no one. I share many things with Olivia, many things I wish I didn't, and I'm not a cop nor am I as lovely as she is ( I wish! ).
We were conceived similarly, you have to really know the character here to understand what I am talking about as I don't intend to elaborate at this time, we both had an alcoholic parent, we both had an abusive parent, she keeps her pain and anger within herself as I do, and she has trouble with letting people be a part of her life, ditto for me as well. It's kinda of weird to see how much of our backgrounds mesh and how it has shaped us.
I wonder how Olivia's character sprang to Dick Wolf's mind. Did he pattern her after someone he knew or is she a composite of people he has come across in his life. I wish I could tell him, as well as actress Mariska Hargitay, how much I admire this character. She's a very realistic character with flaws, insecurities, and heartache. She's not a superwoman, but a strong, tough minded woman that makes a good role model for others, especially for me. Olivia is my current userpic on LJ, so if you don't know who she is, that's her!
By the way, in my opinion, Olivia belongs with Alex Cabot, not Elliot Stabler....more on that later.
