Can I steal your rant and replace my own?wastedrockApril 23 2010, 01:32:49 UTC
I hate it when (other horse people and non horse people alike!) say "how can you just lease your horse out!? I could never get rid of MY horse"/ pet of some kind.
It makes me want to strangle them. Yeah like I LOVE not riding 6 days week like I used to or having my partner of 8 years away from me constantly. That's what I love. ::shakes head:: I didn't do it cuz I wanted to, I did it cuz it's what is best for Jake, and because I just can't afford it, and neither can my family.

:( he misses you too!! he just stands there and watches me ride Andy and Justin in the ring beside him (honestly has a look of pure jealousy and "why aren't you riding me?? ) and it's the saddest thing ever!! I think I am going to start walking on him as much as time will allow, and slowly condition him up have him ready for you to *hopefully* take to the mountains this summer!! ........ uh oh, does that qualify as you being lucky?? lmao!!

Yes! Free exercise rider! Woo!
He would love it if you did that - though how long he would settle for just walking, I don't know...
I'll never forget one of the days I came out to ride after he first went lame. He had been off for a couple weeks, and I was walking out with a saddle - to catch and ride Champ, I think. Lightning saw me with the saddle and whinnied, but when I pulled Champ out of the field Lightning paced back and forth at the gate, bobbing his head and staring and totally communicating "what did you take him for? I'm RIGHT HERE!!!" Heartbreaking.
Honestly, if I have to I'll start paying you to ride him. Stupid horse. I wish he was forgiving enough that he could be leased out to a Pony Club kid, or a dressage rider or something. But anyone who would be able to ride him would want to be doing more than what he's capable of.
I need a property so I can bring him out here!!!! And I just checked - I didn't win the lotto this week. Curses!

Ya I don't know how long he's walk for either lol, Once the outdoor ring gets finished it won't be so bad. I might start taking him down the road or in with the cows to play a bit. That will keep him less in the "I gotta work" mode.
I thought about seeing if Sheena wanted to come up and sit on him while I worked the other guys on the days where I have two to do. Not sure if she would be able to handle him for the first little bit though, might have to wait till the excitement of actually being put back t work wears off lol. Lets just pray that I don't start him back and get his hopes up only to have him go lame right away! That would be heartbreaking on him lol :(
LOL pay me?? haha I'll NEVER turn down money, just buy me lots of nice stuff (and food) when I come to visit :)
Damn it, win that lotto already, then Matt and I might move down there (and yes, bring lightning.....but Andy comes with the deal) and we can buy that place we always dream about lol!!!!

As long as she doesn't pull when he gets strong - I don't want to deal with a mouth-cranky Lightning!
Don't break my horse! If he needs to start getting some Bute before he gets exercised let me know and I'll send some money to buy some. He can still work when he's a little off with some pain meds. You'll just have to start doing the "is this the Bute tube with the nasty stuff or the awesome apple sauce? Which is it going to be today?"
LOL, we'll have to have a rule - only Blazed Chestnuts at our barn!

Thats why I figure I'll wait awhile before throwing her on him... a good while.
lolI won't break your horse, if anything he'd break himself haha. Once I can actually start working him I won't ride him if he's sore, but we have bute here - the horses seem to like the yummy powder stuff much better. Although the "guess what it is this time" game is kinda fun with Lightning lol.
Oh there WILL be exceptions to the blazed chestnut rule lol. Plus, you could just think of his face as a reaaally this blazed, (hahaha almost stripe like hahahahahahaha) then he fits into the category and everyone is happy..... ok well everyone other then the horses living with Andy and the people dealing with him :D
